I had a Vice Principal stop me in the hall for not wearing a belt. At the time, I was wearing a new pair of "Continentals", which had no belt loops; just a short non-functional belt in the back for decoration. I reminded her that there were no belt loops to put a belt through. She said it didn't matter; school policy required boys to wear belts, whereupon she produced a length of rope or twine, which she tied around my waist. When she was finished, I pulled my pocket knife out (yeah, there actually was a time when most guys carried pocket knives wherever they went...they were tools) and cut the "belt", right there in front of her. Never heard another word out of her!
I still carry a pocket knife.

@ChickenCanoe

Good morning
Question was, do you use the clan method of breeding?
I was going to but one rooster has a slightly crooked comb. Should I use him and cull from there or use the other rooster for breeding and then start the clan method. I think I just answered my own question but wanted more opinions. Thanks.

We wore military uniforms, every day all 4 years. Depending on the day, the uniform would change all the way from more casual - similar to khakis all the way to dress whites.
The only time we didn't wear ties was when the weather got into the 90s, Only a couple rooms and the cafeteria were air conditioned. The rest of classes were HOT!
We had formations and inspections every morning on the football field. Shoes highly polished, belt buckle, shirt and blouse brass had to be highly shined. Shirt and slacks had to be neatly pressed. Hair couldn't touch your ears or collar. All buttons needed to be buttoned at all times. A shoe scuff or a fingerprint on a belt buckle would be 2 demerits, an unbuttoned button would be 1 demerit, hair too long or needing a shave could be up to 5 demerits. Almost impossible to keep the shine on the shoes while walking through the dewy grass on the way to formation.
Any teacher could issue demerits for all sorts of infractions including any problem with the uniform.
Demerits were walked off carrying an M1 marching back and forth on the football field. 1/2 hour for each demerit. The about face at each end of the field had to be sharply executed. Present arms at the end, about face, shoulder arms and march the length of the field again. This was my experience with high school.
