I still carry a pocket knife.I had a Vice Principal stop me in the hall for not wearing a belt. At the time, I was wearing a new pair of "Continentals", which had no belt loops; just a short non-functional belt in the back for decoration. I reminded her that there were no belt loops to put a belt through. She said it didn't matter; school policy required boys to wear belts, whereupon she produced a length of rope or twine, which she tied around my waist. When she was finished, I pulled my pocket knife out (yeah, there actually was a time when most guys carried pocket knives wherever they went...they were tools) and cut the "belt", right there in front of her. Never heard another word out of her!
Good morning, @ThIsafricanhome
