Hi, Benny

Incubation temperature profile is of particular interest as previous studies have demonstrated that an increased temperature will result in an increased number of muscle fibres at day 18 of the incubation period. And muscle fibres constitute the basic building blocks of chicken musculature and are positively related to animal growth.
However, we still do not know why a temperature increase on the days in question is able to make a difference as to the number of muscle fibres.
- It has been observed previously that the number of limb movements increases in the period from day 6 to day 11 when the incubation temperature is increased. Muscle contractions and stretching increase the cell division in the muscles and therefore it seems likely that increased muscle activity may increase the number of muscle fibres and stimulate bone formation, says Niels Oksbjerg.
In the longer term, the project partners hope that the project may result in the development of a revised incubation technology.

Makes sense that at higher incubation temps the incubation is further along, but does that actually change the number of muscle fibers in the chicken at slaughter time, which is after all the key objective to raising meat birds.
The fact that they don't report this makes me suspicious.

Hey there, Kid. Staying cool up there?
This is the last of the hot days for a while.

So with the saddle shaped aircells, they are supposed to be hatched upright. What if I have some in the bator at this moment that are hatching and have already pipped while laying on their side?! Should I still move them upright at this point or leave them be?
They still have to be turned eventually or the embryos won't get enough nutrition.

Drinking wine and sitting in the AC. I occasionally start a project, but talk myself out of it!

Poor hydration.

We live in the North-Eastern side of Congo in a small very remote village actually. Much more my pace of living than the city. We've been here just over a year now and plan to be here long term. My husband is a bush pilot and Im working to create a community development program that gets people started with raising animals to improve their quality of life - hence incubating!

Just new to it but excited for what can happen with them.
That sounds great. Good plan.

Hi everyone back in for a break.

Good for you. I don't envy you at all.

Good thing I don't keep bees; I thought they were only active during the day.

They are only active during the day. They all go back into the hive to keep the cluster warm and protect the hive. There are 10s of thousands of bees just waiting at the entrance to attack anything that disturbs the hive.
Raccoons and bears often go into hives at that time of day for a treat so that's what they're prepared for.
Going into a hive during a warm afternoon. The bulk of the bees are away foraging. You don't want to disturb them when the entire hive is inside. That's at night and when it is raining.

Oh MY!! I have my dark cornish bantams scheduled to be ready just after labor day weekend.

One of our all-stars was down to the 8 ball and missed. His opponent got his last 2 balls in and missed the 8. The 8 was in the corner and our guy missed bouncing the ball around the corner. Then they won, knocking us out of the tournament. The worst part was that the other guy was a real jerk. Every time he missed, he yelled at his girlfriend like it was her fault. I wanted him to lose so badly. Had we won that game and the next, we would have been one of the 8 four man teams playing today. All teams playing today win money. If you win today's 3 rounds, money could go up to $4k. Then the winner of the 4 man tournament plays the winner of the 5 man and the winner of that gets around 8k.

First match, I won 2, lost 1 (scratched on the 8)
Second match, I was 1 and 1. I sat out 2 rounds but I should have played cause a couple of our guys had been drinking a long time - it was 10 PM. I drank mostly water during the day.
