We are going to have more storms in the next four hours, but that one was over after a few minutes of hail thunder and lightning.
I hear more thunder, and the roosters are getting worked up again. No clue what the Internet is going to do. But I know that the flock is fine.

I did it! I got all 9 done!

It was SLOOOOOOOOOW because I was plucking, not skinning. But it's so great to have them done and not have to cull two days in a row.

Before I collapse, anyone seen anything like this?






It was on the keel of a little blue copper maran cockerel - found it after scalding and plucking. Seems to have clear fluid under the skin (no, I didn't mess with it).

I have seen something like this here in Texas. Rare in non-mammals. Cuterebra.

Whatever it is, recommend excising large area and "stitching" back together with bacon and toothpicks prior to cooking.

This afternoon I have been getting the ducks in before the first storm and now back out for a while. They have shade, but not good storm protection in the day pen. New pen will be better.
