I love naked necks! And this lady that I got them from had some AMAZING looking birds! Here are some of her flock:

Also, most of her birds carry the buff barring gene and the blue egg gene! They are also all ginormous.

Well, I have watched the video now. I think it is a great trap, and seems safe enough. I do wish they had shown him actually baiting the trap. I am assuming I will understand that by reading the instructions or if I look for other videos. JIC, is it simple enough to get the cotton ball in there?

I added some information to my last post you may want to reread.

I like small pieces of fish because I can drop them under the trigger. The animal has to reach all the way down to pull out food and in the process, pulls up on the trigger. If you use a cotton ball, you can do so before you set it. It is very hard to set by hand unless you have strong hands so I recommend the setting tool.

It is pretty hard to hurt yourself unless you have an appendage in the tube when the trigger is moved.

I've never used a leg hold trap, so don't know, but, unless you dispatch whatever's caught on the spot, how do you move a hurt, live, wild animal safely without getting bit?

Chain the trap, leg hold, conabear to a metal stake (pipe, rebar, whatever you have that's heavy) and shoot whatever is in it first. Have some practice in this with groundhogs, yeah they get a bit of an attitude too.

I know this, and MC's learning it, but she doesn't use firearms
.
When I first got my .243, I was itching to put the crosshairs on something. Finally spotted a groundhog walking away from me & let one fly. No reaction. Thought I'd missed, but it didn't run off. I walked up to it & saw that I'd caught it in the back of the head, literally stopping it dead in its tracks.

Don't feel bad.... I don't either. Though I have been considering a BB for stray dogs.

It's not a secret that I don't shoot. Just confused by someone else saying it.

Did not know MC doesn't shoot, and that's OK, I respect that. Did not mean to offend either of you, just saying what I have to do now and then to keep my poured barn floor from sinking.

Those are DesertChic's birds, aren't they? I love her birds - and she's got some really big ones, too. (Love the orange barring!)

I gotta go to bed - MC, I will dream of our communal petting zoo... :D

LOL! Well, tell us how the zoo looked!
I was thinking petting zoo, but we have to start with a big zoo! We need; giraffes, penguins, zebras, rhinos, hippos, antelope, llamas and some other critters. When we clear out the bears, lions and tigers, we can bring in the fowl, cows and horses!!

I am surrounded by idiots. I am afraid of what I will shoot.
