The older eggs are actually still quite good for feed back. Surprisingly. Especially if there duds. I haven't gone past two weeks with this though.

Could you incubate the ones she abandoned?

Well I'd better get going. Mornings meeting is coming right up and I've an hours drive.

Howdy Mike, & all of you. I hope you all have a super day, & accomplish all you set out to do. I want to wrap h/w cloth around the lower sides of the dog crate that 4 of my youngsters sleep in 'cause the hens won't let them in the coop.

We have a place in town where building contractors donate materials left over from jobs, to be sold at reduced prices for charity (Habitat for Humanity?). Might find a few windows for my building.

Sounds like a great plan! Have a great day!

Fifteen people have looked at my new thread. If 2,000 more look, I will feel that the word has spread, and the the thread will do some good.

Or, know that in my signature is a link to a thread where I hope people like Mike will post. You need day-old chicks? Other people can help you out.

Mark eggs and remove volunteers. Make sure she can cover all under her.

I marked a circle around the eggs so I could see them from any angle. Checked her this morning and she had all of the eggs under her. I think what she does is after one of the other hens get in there, she takes the egg that hen laid and kicks one of the other ones out! Will just keep checking her a couple times a day.

SO CUTE!!!!

My first pied peachick!
