Don't know if you can see the wasps just below the trap. This trap was full yesterday. It's the only type I use now to trap wasps. I don't use the bucket anymore as there isn't enough of them to merit it. Wanted to say you don't need the wasp pheromones to make this work. The bait is the top section of a chicken wing

mine have moved on but where did you get it, or did you make it?

I think I have 1 1/2 tons of hay delivered every three months, but I'll have to check records to verify that.

In Costa Rica, most people don't use hot water heaters. They have a unit mounted on the shower head that heats water as it passes through. Every one I saw had unprotected power running to it. The good ones had wire nuts on the connections. My extra tall coworker from New Zealand got shocked with almost every shower when his head hit the shower head.
I borrowed an angle grinder and extension cord with a duplex receptacle on the end from the estranged husband of my landlady who was a building contractor. They were so dangerous with frayed wires, I had to repair them before I'd use them.
I put new plugs and receptacles on them and made them safe. I thought the guy would be thankful. I don't think he really understood or cared.

in my town we also dont have an inspector but they were remodeling the house the entire time i lived there so thats why i got zapped so often

You have to take the toe and heel off. Given their state, you will need to take what you can evey week for a few weeks until you get the whole hoof right. Just cut thin sections of the heel off(toe too) at time watching for pink or blood. You want to be straight with the coronary band.
I am resorting to a coarse rasp when I get close to drawing blood and to work on heels. I was too timid when I learned last year and one doe has feet that reflect it, on the other hand this week I got a bit deep on one and drew a bit of blood laming another doe for three days. The rasp helps on the heel where I am never sure if I am about to go too deep, but need to take more off.

I sold so many and gave so many away, I had more than I would care to admit, having one LF roo has NEVER happened here. EVER so very quiet and the yard is not alive anymore. But when it cools the goats will be playing around and kiddos too. It is time to get rid of them, and more to go, coop three is next, I need to take pics and sell off the Quad of brahma and get rid of two drakes and the goosers is going back to sara as she lost most of her flock of geese.

thanks for the welcome, but I'm not new here. Just been awol for several months while Putting in extra stress time planning my wedding I'm glad to be back now and catching up with old and new friends. And, btw, the stress was well worth it. The wedding was perfect

I think the problem is the lack of respect, men are not the same nor are women. Men treat women differently, very few old school men that have been taught proper manners etc. Women have stupidly taken on the roll of too much, house maker, mother, worker and so on. It makes them frustrated tired and stressed. combined, you have miserable people, both to blame. just saying but I am half asleep yet lol

So the next time I want to give up my flock and Duckling because I feel like a failure (which is happening now), I can blame it on a lack of a real man?

No its the littles that keep me from doing anything, and I still have two during the day. I wish I had more before and after school so I could have free days, I would love to make some more pallet stuffs. I just cant do the things I like to do with littles, if they are mine I would be ok. But the littles dont listen and cant be trusted. I leave the room and all heck breaks loose. My kids are scared of me and respect me, they wont do things behind my back or when I leave the room, these two littles are horrible with that.

good thing I've already got layers in the coop. Can't wait till my doms start laying though. I did find out that we do better with a flat bottom incubator rather than an auto turner. So hopefully when they start laying we will have it down to an art, lol. Just wish I had a mate for my duck.

I guess I'll post here - I'm using an incubator that my mother in law sent for my daughter. It's got "okay" reviews on amazon - meaning, people have had an okay hatch success rate with it, (more good than bad reviews, we'll put it that way.)
It's a small 10 egg incubator. We are going to try 4-5 eggs - we have 2/5 collected. (We only have 4 laying hens, and atm, only our RIR really lays daily. It's hit or miss on who usually lays a second or third egg, and we've never had 4 in one day. LOL)

Our cochin rooster will be the daddy.

One of the eggs is significantly larger than our 3 small hens, so i'm 100% sure it's from our RIR hen.
So we for sure have a "tiny" egg. (her name is tiny.) Then, my daughter's pretty sure our Cochin white hen, is one of our regular layers too, compared to white freckles (as seen in the above picture - thats white freckles) and little gray.

No idea what we are going to get from white/gray hens mixed with our cochin rooster. He's pretty though.

We will be giving the eggs a try. I know it's roughly a 21 day incubation period. The eggs will be put in with in 2-3 days of collection. I'm turning it on tonight to mess with the temps, so I have a couple days to play with it, before putting the eggs in there. I'm keeping the eggs collected in my bathroom in a plastic bowl until we have all the ones we want collected. We have tested the eggs we eat to make sure they are fertile (i.e. checking for the bullseye, and our rooster has more than done his job. LOL)

After that, I'll be writing an X and an O on them - and turning 3x a day to alternate sides at night.

I know day 18-19 we do a lock down and raise the humidity??? (theoretically? Not sure if it's possible with this incubator. If anyone has used it, any tips on it would be appreciated for better success.) and I've never candled an egg, or looked for air sacs before, so this, too will be a new project for us.

Our eggs are light colored, light pink to light brown - so we shouldn't have too many troubles "seeing" through them at least.

Anyways - any tips on the incubator we are using to have the best success chance? My daughter wanted to participate in the egg bingo type threads to see if she could hatch other types of chickens down the road, but I won't try to win eggs for her, if we haven't' figured out how to successfully hatch an egg yet.

I really, really hate to throw eggs away, but I can't let mrs. parakeet kill herself by hatching three times in a row. Maybe I'll just try to store them and give them to her later.

I will say it will be trial and error the first go round. Don't expect to have all hatch (if any) your first try. (Made that mistake, and had a very upset child until we hatched 1 single egg on my birthday after 7 days of having to throw out bad eggs). Keep positive during the process, even if they don't make it. As for adjusting humidity, adding a sponge will increase it with any incubator. Right on the floor with the eggs, but don't let the water touch the eggs. There are many seasoned egg hatched on here that are more than willing to help. (I'm still a beginner at this. And they've helped me a lot).
