Not sure? They're wild, ugly, and noisy. But I want about 7 more. :love :lau

I hate to do that because it drops the market. And also I did drop the price. I'm trying to sells pairs for way less and I paid for mine, and I have listed adults at chick prices, but no good. It was a gamble with the breed... I should've gotten the croad langshans instead.

What about a good Orpington? Or a silver laced Barnevelders? My favorite breed?
Did you tried to barter them?

Orpingtons don't do well in the heat, but I had a few. I do love the barnevelders, but they aren't cheap either. I was doing really well with the speckled sussex til the dog killed my roo. The EEs have been my favorite all around breed because I don't have to worry about standards and all that. They just get to be chickens! One day I'd like to get more of the speckled sussex.

The rice should be out from the sack! Is it out? It needs to absorb the humidity from the air!
it's not in a sack, it's in a baby sock. smallest thing I could find that would fit in there. lol Should I put a tiny cup of it in there then, instead? I'm just worried about it spilling.

what day are you on? Do you have a charcoal grill?
or charcoal fish tank filters?

yes, or charcoal briquettes
the rice should be exposed to have best affects, but it should still absorb in the socks
I might be able to find some charcoal briquettes, and I can get a small cup to put the rice in, instead of the sock - what's the max humidity and still a good chance of success to hatch, pre-lock down? We've had 90-95 degree weather here the last few days, but humidity's of 60-70+ it's predicted to rain pretty much every night for the next month, so i have a feeling i'll be playing with the humidity in there for a while to keep it even.

I just put them in today, my daughter was able to collect her 6th egg this morning, so I let her put them in there when I got home from the dentist. It was 50% humidity, until all the eggs where in, then it jumped to 75% and held steady, so I was trying to figure out how to get it down so we didn't completely waste our time with these eggs.

It's not a big deal if we have to start over, i calibrated the thermometer, I've been having trouble keeping the temp around 99 too - the built in one says it's the right temp, and it's max temp, the one I set in there says it's hoovering around 98.9 instead of 99ish so i'm trying to figure out how to make them work right.

If i can't figure out how to get this one working, I'll probably give up and have my husband and daughter build their own incubator with a built in turning rack after this.

I just had to at least give this one a shot, since it's a gift from grandma.

It wont help you! The rise should be out and spread as much as you can! Its efficiency as humidity absorbant depends on its surface! More surface = grater effects!

Spent time in a vet rehabilitation yesterday with my Aunt..my Uncle Jim.. my Uncle Jim, her husband, was heavily sedated. He finally passed away last night. If anyone here says a prayer or two here and there..say one for our family. Thank you.
:hugs :fl
You should look into the Kinder goat as well. I want one of them.
It wasn't included in the articles. I will look, but if I get indecisive, I'll never get anything.
Yep. When mixed with HRIR or EE, the cochin babies come out blue and fluffy. But the fibro genes appear to be dominant, because I've gotten some black-skinned chicks with pea combs. Maybe some really fluffy "dark and stormy night" type chickies?? This is a hona mix pullet.

If I combine English and Hebrew! :lau
LOL
or she could have meant different type of pole fan
So, I tried to put a sack of rice in there, but I can't get the humidity below 65-75% right now... bigger rice sock? LOL
More time or try the cup. The baby sock probably isn't too thick.
