Reminds me....I found a little mouse in my feed can the other day. So, I trapped it in the feed bucket and tossed it to the chickens at breakfast. One of my Buff's had a great start to her day!!

FOR ALL YOU PEAFOWL PEOPLE:

I have 2 babies that I hatched early July. They were both doing great until this morning:

I walked over to check on them, and saw that they were both laying in the middle of the run just panting. And one was dead. But, the other seemed just fine. I looked the dead one over, and there were no wounds, so I just assumed that it was the heat. So, I put ice in their water and sprayed down the ground.

Well, this evening I went over to check on them again and now the other one is not moving, and is just laying in the same spot as I left it. But still breathing.

So, is there a sickness that peafowl commonly get? And is there anything that I can do? Please help!

Thank you!

I don't know peafowl. Banti has tagged Kathy which will be a great help. In the mean time. How hot is it? Can you move the bird to cooler area like inside the house with cage without traumatizing it? Are the other birds having the same problem? Does it have lots of shade now?

Quote: Finally got the first one built, except for two braces. Rest of them should go a bit faster since I have one under my belt now & it's not all brand new to me.
Spent the time to get all the gussets cut so I don't spend all my time running back & forth to the radial saw. Been so hot during the day that I ork a little in the morning & evening. Got smart & set up a work light today so I can work after dark. Reminds me of when I was a kid & pitched horseshoes half the night under the lights.
