She's my special girl.... She will come over when she sees me, jumping on my lap, sometimes sharing a treat with me. The stresses of the day just melt away into nothing, and I leave completely happy..... I price that at about a million.

If nothing else, she is incredibly good for my mental and therefore physical health. Other chickens may come running when I have food, but she doesn't want snacks.... I have yet to come across another chicken like her. She was sitting in the hammock with me the other day.... I just love her.....

Well, I was not trying to kill the conversation. The one not after treats just made me think of him.

Hey all. Incubating another batch of eggs. These were shipped and some have jiggly or saddle shaped air cells. I have let them rest for 24 hrs. I plan to hatch upright this time, BUT my problem is that my turner is horizontal and I will be away from the incubator for the first 3 days. Turning upright by hand is not an option.

Help me clarify a few things from what I have read….

Do I leave the eggs upright and do not turn the first 3 days? Then lay them down horizontally and let the turner do the work?

Or do I flip a coin and lay them down from the get-go, letting the turner do the work and then put them upright in cartons at Lockdown?

Thanks!!
Keep them upright. Not turning the first three days isn't as bad (actually, it could be good depending on if there are detached air cells) as laying them down.

Am I that bad with names, or are you new to this thread? Hi either way!

Thank you!!

I will put them upright in egg cartons, and won't turn until Monday. At that point, should I keep them upright in egg cartons and tip them left to right manually? If so, how often should I do this? Or, can I take advantage of the auto turner (with the down side being that they have to be on their side for this to work)?

Also, is it necessary to cut the bottom out of the egg cartons?

Oh Daxigait! The pain can help revive the good memories as well.
How wonderfully bittersweet that you captured this moment and the one in your avatar forever on film as well as in your mind's eye.
Anniversaries are hard.
