Awwww! Is this you? j/k @daxigait this is the real Jace in a BYC picture of Banti's:
LL
I think it was BYC pic of the week when first posted!
Beautiful! Thank you.
Jace is cute. At first I thought that was the name of the brown speckled hen, until I realized you meant the child. Geeze,I need to slow down and read these posts better!Your hen has the same type of coloring as my Diva. I was told Diva is a Mille Fleur Old English bantam.Sounded good, so I went with it.:) She's small, that's for sure. Even tinier than my much-hated-by-her Frizzle bantam roo. I named him Frizzle, bc I like the word :) Here's his pic. I guess he just looks alot bigger, bc of all his crazy feathers. He's difficult to get a good photo of, bc he wont stay put long enough.

Quote: I love your coop and the way you built your run. So, is that how your chickens range? I'm just curious,bc when time comes that we can leave CA & buy more land,I know we'll be dealing with predators, which we dont have now. I've wondered how to keep the hens safe and still let them range. This looks like a perfect setup.Around here, when marketing eggs for sale, everyone goes nuts when they hear the words free range & cage free, which we put on our cartons.I'm not exactly sure what constitutes free ranging other than letting them go where they may outside a closed in coop area.Ours are out in the yard all day wandering around and doing their thing. If they were in a run like yours, would that still be considered free ranging? I sure wish my grandmother and great aunt were still alive. They both raised huge flocks of chickens on big farms. I was just a little kid, but I never once heard either of them speak about losing birds to predators, and they were both in southern IL, so I'm sure there were predators around back there.I know I could have learned alot from both ladies :)
Trust me; you have predators. you've been lucky so far in not having to deal with them. Fox, skunk, 'coon...I don't know of an area in the country that doesn't have all three, and all three are killers. Set up a couple of trail cameras; you'll be surprised at what shows up after dark.

Quote: I'm not new here.I got married in June, so I changed my name here. You might remember me as Lynn Hill.I've been awol from BYC for quite a while, too, trying to reorganize my life & plan my wedding basically. And thanks for asking, bc I was afraid everyone wouldn't know me now :)
I remember you, but never made the connection. Didn't you post a picture once of you & hubby in all your wedding finery?
