Hi Mike! :frow I think they must have a home somewhere in that little block. I called my neighbor with muscovies (thought maybe they had wandered from home with all the rain and water) and she said "I forgot I gave eggs to that lady. They're hers." So they live somewhere in one of those homes. Wish I knew which one, because they're prettier than most and I wouldn't mind trying to hatch some myself.

why not ask for eggs from the originator?

She's got too many irons in the fire. I was going to get guinea eggs from her, but she couldn't keep track of what was fresh or not. She's got a pretty decent livestock operation and she runs food trucks on the weekends.

She's an inspiration!

Oh no, she's got so many birds I couldn't even put a number on them. Chickens, guineas, turkeys, all sorts of ducks and geese. She said the Muscovy hens will set anything, so she's always got something hatching. Then she's got a big flock of goats and a small herd of cattle and a few hogs.

:frow Rarely get on here during the day. It's a hot one ! I'm inside taking a break. I miss everyone! Here is what I'm raising at the moment. The mom died and I put the egg in the incubator for the few days it had left. Started with feedings every half hour. Now only 4 times a day. Thank God they grow fast! Parrotlet. Here is one that is only a couple weeks older... And here is a picture of one of my kids working at the Hubbell building site. My other son now works there with me. He is doing copper work.
:frow Stay cool. We are finally cooling down for a couple days

Well, I was not trying to kill the conversation. The one not after treats just made me think of him. Banti what is she? Picture? @BantyChooks
Lalo got it, she's my special OEGB hen.
Awwww! Is this you? j/k @daxigait this is the real Jace in a BYC picture of Banti's:
LL
I think it was BYC pic of the week when first posted!
LOL!! That one didn't make it to POW, but other pics of her won twice.
I'm not new here.I got married in June, so I changed my name here. You might remember me as Lynn Hill.I've been awol from BYC for quite a while, too, trying to reorganize my life & plan my wedding basically. And thanks for asking, bc I was afraid everyone wouldn't know me now :)
Oh! I remember you now. :frow
@daxigait Banti's Jace is an OEGB
Yep.... The cutest one ever. :love
Jace is cute. At first I thought that was the name of the brown speckled hen, until I realized you meant the child. Geeze,I need to slow down and read these posts better!Your hen has the same type of coloring as my Diva. I was told Diva is a Mille Fleur Old English bantam.Sounded good, so I went with it.:) She's small, that's for sure. Even tinier than my much-hated-by-her Frizzle bantam roo. I named him Frizzle, bc I like the word :) Here's his pic. I guess he just looks alot bigger, bc of all his crazy feathers. He's difficult to get a good photo of, bc he wont stay put long enough.

Lol, Jace is the hen, the kiddo in the hammock is off the internet I think. Hes cute!

Hi campingshaws! OK, they live somewhere, just out having fun in the ditch.

Might be MIA for a while; possibly into tomorrow. Had to take DW to the ER a bit ago; she thinks it's an anxiety attack...idk from nuthin'. I had to come back to lock the birds up; going back now to see what's up with her. BBASAP
oh no!! sorry whites, hope she is better now!

I thought she was when she went to bed, but she's up & complaining of being all jittery inside; making appt. with the Dr. today. She's like her mother was; always something going on healthwise.
And Good morning to you & the rest of the crew..

I'm still several pages behind, but I'm getting there.

Beautiful day out there...only hitting 80* for an hour or less this evening. I think I can handle that.

Wow, they start so small and delicate looking, amazing they can survive.
Thanks Mike. She hadn't been sleeping well to begin with, then starting her work day @ 4AM & ending the day doing a 4hr stint in the ER last night has kept her in bed all day, except for two hrs or less this morning to keep an appointment with the family doc. He says her brain's always in high gear, thinking about all she has going on with family & church programs (one of which she conceived of & administers). He gave her a prescription to slow her brain down". I told her she's got too much on her plate.

Mira is now eating on her own. I massaged her crop earlier and got most of the food that was in it through and immediately after, she started searching for food. She's feeling so good today that I thought I would take her out to visit her brothers and sisters. She was so excited that she jumped right out of my hands (was only inches from them) and tried to rejoin them. They all seemed happy to see each other. Now, she's crying in my room because she wants back out with her flock :/ But she's healing up! No crying, fussing, or head shaking when I cleaned up her head today :)
