What causes the egg to have so many "blood spots" and also does it look fertile?

400

Sometimes, especially in brown eggs layers, they shed some oviduct lining in the egg.

Sorry to hear about your predator attack.

I swear-I'm kinda old but my grandma used whiskey for everything and I turned out ok... (as i sit here with a bottle of wine....) But the alcohol in a shot of jack does the same thing as alcohol in cough syrup-relaxes smooth and striated muscles, slows breathing and helps you sleep. (maybe not jack or a whole shot but whiskey tea honey and lemon is an age old remedy!) I remember her rubbing it on my gums when I was teething. ahh what I wouldn't do to go back to the good old days lol.
I'm convinced..... Where are you north of the "D"?
I WAS JUST DOWN THAT WAY FOR A TIGER GAME.....

:hugs how bout that jack ;)

My grandmother RIP, was the same! She just used to rub my back or stomach , give me to drink almost for every kind of sickness an alcoholic drink called " Arack" it is a drink distilled from dates and flavors wite Anise, it is like the the French pernno or Uzo.

I can swear that it worked every time!

In Turkey the use to call it " lion's milk"

HELP!! I just checked my eggs and one that had pipped had yellowish bubbles around the pip zip line and when I looked at the beak it was not moving and dead

What happened?! There have been about 20 that have hatched fine.

x2  Hi Phage!

I am so sorry about Grandpa sweetie, hugs. What do you have that is giving them so much bumble foot?  they picking up splinters from something?  sorry about the cocci I think most in the wet areas had to deal with it, ugh.  I am glad to see you back, I was figuring all the kids and stuff had you busy through the summer.  :hugs

Kids do you mean chickens? Lol all we have for children so far are the animals and a bunch of spoiled rotten brats they are too. Lol
I believe the bumble foot could be from a few different things but mostly I believe the culprits are some overly exuberant armorous cockerals packaging the pullets/hens on our gravel driveway. The suspected boys have been penned and will be dealt with. None of the larger heavier cockerals have any bumbles which makes me think I'm correct. It has been an incredibly busy summer. Now you didn't comment on the salmon faverolles pullet we lost or the pullets that later about 7-9 eggs and then stopped. Should we be worried about the pullets do you think(this is my first legbar)? Also any ideas on the salmon faverolles pullet? It's good to be back, I've missed you guys.

I had a hen attacked by a hawk and the same thing happened to her. `She recovered fine & is doing great! Hope your hatch goes well.

Thank you. I'm glad to hear your girl did okay. I can't be sure it was her but I think either her or her sister may have layed me their first perfectly shelled egg today but the is at lot one other pullet it could have been; she's an EE mix of ours but I hope and am expecting her to lay green but I could be wrong.

@MotorcycleChick
Hi and thanks for the hug and encouragement. :)

I have family & friends in southern WI, in and around Racine, several of which are hunters. If you're in that area, I could say something to them; they might be able to help you.

I'm in between Beloit and Janesville so I'm not sure how far they'd want to come but thank you for the offer. I would love someone to come take these things out I would do it myself if I got a shot. The last pullet they killed was a point of lay white Rock and DH2B's last pick from this spring. Well except the two now obsolete white Rock cockerals who will be headed to the freezer.

She hasn't seen an asthma specialist but is on asthma medication daily... I am going to get an appt with a specialist at the children's hospital to see if we can get to the bottom of her issues. She's coughing away now, trying to sleep. I have her lathered up in Vick's, so strong my eyes are watering lol. Also gave her some hot tea with honey and lemon before bed.

I don't know the context but as an asthmatic I feel for her greatly I hope she feels better and that the doctors/specialist can get her breathing under control.

Okay now I can tell I've missed a lot what's going on with everyone? Sally from your posts I gather something is going on and I hope everything is okay. Please let me know if there's anything I can do. Also what's the story with these ducklings?

Also wanted to mention that I'm dieing to enter the Halloween hal this year but don't have any eggs I want to hatch right now. Also DH2B is kind of against it so if I'm gunna participate I need a really good reason. ;) BC he doesn't think chickies are a good reason lol. I don't plan to do a lot if I enter but I do have the coolerbator too if needed lol. I suppose a couple could fall in but what to set.

We have about 8-12 pullets left to place depending on who we choose of our blue laced silvers to keep for breeding. The 40-50 cockerals will be going to the freezer leaving us with about 40-55 birds going into winter give or take. Which is not the 40 I was supposed to be at but certainly well within our range of housing comfortably also I was giving myself a conservative estimate. That's not even including the large coop from Mike's uncle that we were given that is all tin and would just potentially need insulating to use for winter. We still have to move it and replace a couple rotten boards but it's pristine otherwise.

So everyone about out and say what's new and everything I've missed. Also I would love to hear everyone's hatching totals for the year if you know them or approximately.
