Then you'd 100% understand my hesitation to give unneeded meds with that side effect, simply because the doctor believes "all preemies have asthma"

My son can run for HOURS in the yard, and has never wheezed. He gets colds easily and can get a little congested sometimes, but his oxygen and o2 levels have always stayed stable, and he's never acted like he was having a hard time breathing.

People act like these medications are no big deal... but they can be, especially if the kids will need them their entire life. If he needs them, I'll make sure he gets them, but they haven't proved, with out a reasonable doubt, that he actually needs them and it's not just them pushing meds.

The doctors was pushing it, because he wanted to use long-term, prevention meds, on a daily basis, for a toddler who has never wheezed simply because he believes 99% of preemies develop asthma, and it was impossible for him to believe that my son's pretty healthy and may not need it.

His theory was if it was spring, he'd be watching it, instead of giving meds. But since were going into fall, he wanted him on the meds.

To me, if he felt like he could just "watch and monitor" in the spring time, going into the fall season wasn't a good enough reason to use potentially dangerous meds. A 24 weeker doesn't have the bone density of a normal baby. I don't want him to suffer at 40, because I let the doctor scare me into using meds his entire childhood, that wasn't absolutely needed.

I'm more worried about how he's going to be when he's 40, and to make sure all his parts are intact and healthy.

i agree with you, my daughter was a preemie too and she has no issues

@Sally Sunshine

look at all the pretty birdies!

Well, at least I have all three now. Someone stole my generator, a belt broke in a tire so since it is a 4x4 that means four new ten ply tires *gulp*, and one of my waterers is leaking possibly from the main given how wet the ground is requiring a backhoe and plumber.
Oh well, God is still in CO trol, I have a job, and health for the moment even if I don't have the money for all of that. One at a time I guess.

While searching, I haven't found anyone answer this hatchling issue on here or google search wise...

3 chicks running around, curious about where my hand goes etc. 1 other chick hatched from a larger egg (if that info matters, same breed, Maran), but hasn't walked once. Only scoots on belly. Has swollen darker belly, noticed this since hatch too, legs don't look splayed, both seem to move the right way when I pick the chick up and check individually, and when sitting chick up they sit about right... But when on its own, it just lays forward and scoots wherever. Been giving drops of water with both save-a-chic electrolytes and the probiotic... The other three have been drinkin on their own np
TIA

Pipped in the wrong spot! What do I do?

@mich9510 it will do just fine

The air cell is on the opposite end of where he broke through. I can hear him peeping. The egg is bumping around. I don't know how long it's been. Will he be ok? Do I let him go? Do I intervene?
MALPOSITIONS /PIPS WRONG END are the first to pip and the last DIS after hatch post #19606

@Sally Sunshine That big chick,,,,, is it the same age?
4 days older if that its a BCM and most of the others are serama and some also are 4 days old, there are two polish blackish brown heads in there and a serama at three plus weeks old that is frizzled in the back.

You ain't goin' nowhere, & you know it; you're as hooked on this collection of crazies as I am. Besides, as an integral part part of this thread from the get-go, you're needed. Who else can keep Chaos in line?
Morning whites. If she's the one who's keeping me in line then she's doing a terrible job.

Yup.... I'm caught hook, line, and sinker on BYC/this thread- The only place on the internet where people are polite, tolerant, and know how to spell! Not leaving here anytime in the foreseeable future.

Ummm.... I'm more like the scapegoat that distracts him. :gig

Don't know about "needed" either, but thanks. :p
