@Sally Sunshine
Good morning!
Hey, if I do go ahead and order those ducks/turkey poults next monday.... what should I feed them, since I assume medicated chick starter's not ideal for turkeys and ducks.
I'm trying to figure out what I need to do differently to have the best chance of them surviving.
The amprolium in chick starter is at an acceptable range for ducklings but they'll need more protein initially and the ducklings will need higher niacin than what is in chick starter.
The ducklings should have about 22% protein for the first couple weeks. After that, the 18% in the starter is adequate.
The turkeys on the other hand, should have much higher protein for longer. They need 28% for the first 6-8 weeks.
It is possible to raise both on chick starter and I know people that have done it but their performance will be poorer than it could be.
Here's a good feeding guide for waterfowl.

I KNOW if I put 24 silkie eggs in my incubator, my husband's going to probably strangle me, if a good # of them hatch. the lady who runs the 4h club here, told my daughter and me, that silkie's and Easter Egger chicks, would sell like hot cakes, since there's no one here locally that has either of them.
...
Both should sell well this time of year since their availability is lower now.
Sadly there is already so much misinformation out there that my opinion is very unlikely to matter to people like the chicken chick, or Gail Damerow, author of the Chicken Health Hand Book, which also has lost of worming misinformation.

I know that misinformation peeves you but I still find it an incredibly valuable resource I recommend every chicken owner have on their bookshelf.
I think you should write a book that has the correct worming information.

I've been asked to write a book on Penedesencas. If only I could find the time. Perhaps I could if I didn't spend so much time on this site.
Those pages from her book I found using ebooks, so I would need to buy a copy to do it properly. And those are from her 2nd edition, which I think is the most recent.

There were only two editions and the second was released last year if memory serves.
I find it very head scratching that different developed countries have different withdrawal periods for the same type of medications.
A couple different regulating agencies with different protocols working with different research. If the world had one government, that wouldn't be the case but who wants that?
