It is, but being autistic, I tend to have the opposite reactions to medications, something about the way i'm wired... so for me, it stabilizes my blood sugar and removes it spiking down. I average blood sugar's in the 70's even after eating, so I drop really low if I go too long with out food. Since I started taking it, I don't get the spikes down that make me woozy as often.

I'm also a natural red-head... did you know ginger's also require more anaesthesia genetically than regular folk?
strange

Sort of what I found on the web... says a 50 gram egg has 6 grams protein, so that's only 12%, right? Or am I missing something?

better of to mix in canned tuna, but that can get expensive

Needing some help, Last of my 5 chicks hatched today, biggest egg, pretty strong too, but hatched on 23rd day.

However

It hatched with this little hard bit in its bottom, I've put some oil around it to try and help it along, but I would love some advice, kinda urgent cuz it's like. It's the little thing's butt haha.

Close up for those of you with eyes like mine.

I think they are roughly ~12%

Yea but for that ya gotta let them grow a little.
Yeah, but meat birds usually are edible sooner than regular birds. I think our local 4h said 10-12 weeks is ideal for butchering the ones they get and not to let them go past 6 months.

So, they'd be about ready to eat by jan.

Quote: I just did a little more reading on her site and found some worming misinformation. Sigh...

Thanks, I'll think about it.

So I looked at them and the "regular" poops look pretty normal, but some of the cecal poops look like they might have air bubbles, and one looks like maybe it has small white dots in it. Can you take a bunch of poop and have it check for coccidia and worms?

-Kathy
I will have to check to see if they do it

Argh. I was going to try to order turkey feed, from TSC, and they don't have *anything*

http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/dumor-chick-starter-24-50-lb?cm_vc=-10005

This is the closest their website has, and I think I have to go into the store in person, to order it.

So, it looks like this 20% crumble starter feed, is what i'm stuck with. I'll need to figure out how to add extra grit/protein to the turkeys. I need to re-read the niacin on the bag, but I *think* it's okay for the ducks as is.

I need to get everything all organized this weekend, and push comes to shove, I just won't order the turkeys and ducks until next spring if I can't get everything set up in time for them to come next week.

Anyways. Just figuring it out since the requirements for ducks and turkeys are more complicated then keeping baby chicks alive and happy. haha
No grit needed if they are on crumbles.

What breed do they get?
Some kind of heavy meat bird, that grows really fast, they said the reason you need to cull prior to 6 months is their joints can't keep up with their body weight and they'll end up dying because of how fast they grow. So, more humane to kill/eat them. I haven't intentionally had meat birds before, primarily because I wasn't sure I wanted to cull/eat them, but my husband finally agreed to help butcher with the kids.
