I would find a nice light sussex hen for him! And have some pure breed sussex! It is wonderful breed, but I love more the buff sussex!

Not mine!

I really want to get a nice Sussex hen for him! I wasn't even sure he would be able to breed successfully with my hens because he is a BIG boy. But it seems he was very diligent and got the job done otherwise I wouldn't have 5 little cuties with me.

I love buff chooks! Hoping to get my hands on some orpingtons, they're so volumous

Hope my babies get to look like that hen!! Gorgeous!

I onec, and I think I am stil , a memmber of a chicken forum in New Zealand, you can try there, I think that there was also Australian there.

Oh dear... So took around 36hrs for this little one to get out...assistance was given, membrane stuck where it was first pip'd... I noticed the pinkish bare spot on its back, right between the wings... Now that the chick is bangin around, it's bleeding some, reminds me of scrape... Could a chick not close up all the way on its back? I'm trying to remember if I noticed it when it got free of the shell, but I was more worried about yolk and it's umbilical area... :(

My birds are divided into separate runs. I I free range them, alternating runs between days.
I'd like to turn them all out together. My concern is whether each group will return to their "home" coop at night. Neither coop is large enough to acomodate all 15 of them.
Whatcha all think?

I free range two groups and one IS big enough for everyone but the little creatures of habit only want to go to their own coop. I even tried closing them out at dusk and luring them to the bigger coop -they freaked out. I'll bet yours go right back to what they know best.
