This is my first forum ever! so tell me If i am doing this wrong please. :)

It's day 24 about half way through... if the themometer was reading wrong and my bator was cooler than i thought, can the chicks in the remaining 6 eggs still have the strength to hatch??

Lol.its a figure of speech.

Thanks love. It means a lot to me that you believe I'm a good mama. That's such an honor. The 8 newborns are wonderful! The 9th egg however died around day 14. It started leaking so I took it out. Did a necropsy and it was evident that it quit sometime around day 14. Sad,but very blessed to have 8/10. Very blessed! So moved mama and chicks to their permanent home. She's separated from the big fat guys. Safe and learning them babies good already!!!! I have myself another awesome mother!!! Can't ask for more than healthy babes and a nurturing mama. Thank you Lord.

Quote: OK nice area for a coop!! you have plenty of trees!! tack some wire up on it and stick a tpost in here and there where you need it and you will barely see any fencing too! Mine LOVE the woods and dust bathing in that fresh black dirt!!

Here is my Brownie. Anyone wanna guess at her breed? This was when she had 7 chicks and still 2 eggs under her.

Here she is her first night out for a second just to get some scratch in her belly.

Will send new pics of her out scratching and teaching her chicks later on. Hope y'all enjoy and thanks for yer patience!

Still working on sending our deer pics!

God bless!

It doesn't matter what it looks like as long as it is safe and functional for the birds.... Mine may be "pretty" but what good it that if it is all mud and the chickens get sick or are not happy & healthy??? My duck pen is nowhere near as nice but it works for them and keeps them safe. I guess the point I am trying to make is it is better to do with less and do well than to try and do more than what you can handle and risk the health and safety of the animals. This rationale comes with time, age and practice... and cost.... be sure you can always handle the responsibility you accept. If my hand doesn't heal I may have to get rid of a lot of my birds. Is that what I want-absolutely not!!! But is it what is in the best interest of my health and the health of my flock... YES!!!! This is why you have to be 18 or older to play the games for eggs.... There are hard decisions to be made when it comes to accepting the responsibility of another living thing. I have to give my Seramas special feed and keep my garage heated like my home if I want to breed show quality birds and that is very expensive. I just want you to think before you act and be successful at what you do instead of failing trying to do something half a**... you get the picture?

Thanks! pea gravel and sand are coming tomorrow... Will ask hubs about Tposts-he will know. Just want a "safe" area for the more vulnerable birds....

You're doing just fine.
You need to calibrate your thermometer(s) & hygrometer to be sure that what you're reading is factual.
I've had eggs successfully hatch on days 24 & 25, probably due to unknown temp drops

Not sure what's up with my chicken eggs... They actually seem to be digressing, to the point that I pulled up calendars and literally counted days. The still look Day 14 to me.

oh crap campin!!! did the thermostat take a crap or get out of whack maybe? or the lid off it a tad for a few days, I did that once, the top wasnt settled on right, in the cooler nothing bad would come of it, but styro sure makes a bad mistake!

Did they still wiggle around when you candle?

At least one did. It wasn't very dark though.
