Incubation Experiment with 5 week old eggs

I have had good and bad luck with the PO. I would say all in all, more good than bad. I have shipped alot of eggs over the years and that was the only one that was smashed.
I have had some bad hatches on shipped eggs but lots of good too! In fact I have 2 batches of eggs right now in the incubator from 2 different sources that were shipped and 100% of the eggs are developing, so it can happen.

I think you may have more eggs hatch then 3.

I just hatched 5 of 9 eggs that were a month old when they went in. I did not turn them once a day, they were left in a tupperware and forgot. I didn't have the heart to toss em so I threw them in. I'll be very interested to see what your results are.

Ooooh! I'll be watching this one. I do like experiments like this. I just set ten eggs all from the one hen, and some were over 2 weeks old when I set them. I noticed that during the time they had been stored the oldest ones had already lost a considerable amount of moisture. ( I weigh each egg when laid, when set, and at a couple of points through the incubation to check on ideal humidity.) So I'd imagine that could have a considerable impact on hatch rates... I was wondering if the best way to deal with that in the future would be to store the eggs in higher humidity or to set the incubator at higher humidity.

Good luck with your old eggs!

I have a similair thread going On porous eggs. They were over 4 weeks old that sat on counter the whole time-day 10 and I have 2/4 very porous eggs

Hope you get great results!!!
