Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

"Umbilical cord" cut - she was so good - held so still while we did it!  Do you think it is safe to wash her off with the cord still hanging?

This is shrink-wrapped. This peachick died in the shell, fully absorbed, but I don't remember if it was malpositioned or not. Incubated under hen, not bator. -Kathy

Here it is still moving on day 27 and all of the others had hatched.



Here it is day 28 *after* I moistened the membrane. Pretty sure it was malpositioned.

Ok so she's all cleaned up? Now the only thing you have to do is watch her, she can't come out until she is on her feet and has her head up, she will be wobbly, she will be weak until she gets her strength , hopefully she will be noisy to get those others going.... She will need lots of time to do all this, but your job is done for now with her. Woooooooo hoooooo, send a pic once she is all fluffed up, it's amazing how big they get when they do fluff up, I always look at mine and think dang how the heck did you fit in that shell...

She has to be completely dry before coming out.

Ok so she's all cleaned up? She's cleaned up...she bled a little, and she got some blood in the incubator. My husband is worried the blood will "contaminate" the incubator - that it will be a source of bacteria for the other eggs. I told him no, but he thinks we should wash the whole bator and put the other eggs and the chick (who he is calling "Skippy!") in the other incubator until this one is clean and warm....I told him I would ask.

She's still wet Lori - I was thinking she might not come out until tomorrow afternoon...not tonight, right?
