Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Why the corn syrup? seems it would cause a duckling to have Hypoglycemia especially if not eating yet? Just a question only not saying it isn't the way to go, I've always just used Poultry Nutri Drench in the water on newly hatched ducklings and chicks.

It was posted on here for mammals, but after doing some reading it's ok to use for ducks it just needs to be mixed with water. I personally use polyvisol without iron, omg this stuff is like heaven for me. I have used poultry drench and it is just as good..

Thanks Kathy, Have not heard of using it on other animals. I am pretty sure I saw it in a hatchery catalog to give sugar water to newly arrived chicks to get them to start drinking. What exacting does the corn syrup do? besides taste good. A sugar boost kind of like when a kid eats to many sweets and get hyperactive?

I would think so, yes. Like an energy boost...a sugar high. And when they are weak, it's a little extra pick-me-up....my guess, anyway.

Poultry drench and polyvisol - will look them up...are they like Pedialyte, or Gatorade?

How are the kids doing tonight? # 8 still dragging around it's ball and chain? I hope they get to meet tomorrow Skippy will be so happy to have a bud.

My husband Mark named 8 "Tulip."

She is doing well. She "detached" from her ball and chain on her own! I wiped her off with a cotton ball dipped in warm water, and now I hear her climbing all over the bator!

Skippy is happily resting IN HER FOOD BOWL in her brooder!

Thanks to all of you for asking - and caring! :)
