Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Awwe mother instinct hasn't kicked in for her yet. Is she a first timer. First timers always make me nerves because they never seem to stay on them long enough. They seem to get to impatient and off they go.. I've had ONE duck take off into the woods for the LONGEST time, I thought a fox got her, next thing I know, here comes 7 babies. She's limping but 7 of her babies are following right behind her. THE CUTEST THING EVER>..

Yep - she's a first-timer. She's the most beautiful girl - PURE, BRIGHT white with just a hint of the red caruncles on her face. Daddy (Claude) is a BIG BOY - he's a beautiful grey and white. These are our only two ducks...living among 10 chickens. :)

I don't even think about incubating duck eggs. My girls would give me a good thrashing because they are the ultimate experts.

for sure.

Temp is 101 and humidity is 49%...We're keeping it LOW for the non-lockdown eggs, right?  I'm sorry for so many questions, but I really do want to learn!  :)

Not to many questions, it's great that your asking them, hopefully we're giving you clear enough explanations lol

We're you able to get that second incubator and how's our noise maker doing any cracks yet??

All of the explanations are fantastic - thank you all so much!

No external cracks yet...the inside has something definitely going on - even from the outside, looking in with the naked eye, I can see what looks like a darker spot - I think the little one has pipped a big hole in the membrane. I can still hear her pecking away. I can't believe it - I would think she would be SO TIRED!

Yes, we got the second incubator and set it up. The temperatures are pretty easy to maintain, but the humidity is difficult!! Right now, the lockdown is at about 101 and the humidity is about 60%. The non lockdown is at 101 and humidity about 40%...I want to go to bed soon, so I am praying it holds the same overnight! This is so nerve-wracking, but I couldn't do it without all the advice, support, and encouragement from you all here! Thank you so much! Talk to you all in the morning! :)

Oh you are so right! The humidity was at 45% in the LOCKDOWN incubator this morning! UGH! I've got it up to a little over 50% - still working on raising it! Why is it this hard?

#4 is still pecking away! We took some photos of the egg last night - they turned out terrible, and wouldn't you know it, our batteries in the camera died so we couldn't upload the photos! I will work on that today.

How long can a little duckling peck at the shell before there are any external crack? It's been 36 hours, and today is day 37 for her!

Here are three photos we took last night. On the two close-ups, that little "spot" that looks like a crack is not - it's actually on the outside of the egg - I think they call them "calcium bumps." (?) However, it DOES seem to be what the little duckling is "pecking" at...

The final picture is what I call "the dark spot" which is visible from the outside with the naked eye. Is that the "popped" membrane? It was not there before yesterday afternoon.
