Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Thank you so much Kathy and Lydia. She was SO CLOSE! I am sad...but now I need to turn my attention to all the others, and #5, which I can hear peeping inside the egg!
I agree. you'll need all your strength to get through till the next ones hatch.

I am going to try to get a couple hours sleep...
I woke up at five seen your message and figured I would get some more sleep and ask questions later.

So talk to me, we need to find out what went wrong. We need this information because It will help us with the others that are still cooking.

Did you come across a vein, Last picture you sent me there was no veins. My guess and this is a wild guess, is she broke her yolk. The reason I say that is because on her egg and an egg next to her's there were yellow spots and when you said she wasn't as noisy when you took her out at 3, sounded like that was a sign of her getting weak.

If that is the case, there's absolutely nothing we could have done differently. So please talk to me, if you have her completely opened, send me a pic, let me take a look at everything, I know this sounds Harsh and Aweful but honestly its the only way to figure out what went wrong and get better prepared for the next ones..

So please lets figure out what happen so we can be better prepared for the others..

OH PM me the picture, may not be a good Idea to post it here.

Hi Lori, Thanks so much. After I found her last night, I knew I wanted to explore the cause of death more, and then bury her in our yard. But I was tired, and sad...so I knew I couldn't look at her right then with a clear head, so I wrapped her in tissue and put her in a Zip-lock and put her in the freezer. I just took her out, so in a while I will pull the rest of the egg off her and photograph her and send the photos to you. Thank you Lori - I do understand - and agree with you that we (*I*) need to learn from little Peeper to help the others. Also, it honors her to learn from her....then her little life was not in vain...

Quote: NOPE actually she did good and now she will be the CLUE to figuring out how we can save her brothers and sister. Although it would be nice if she was here but having her tell us what to prepare for will be the greatest gift that she can give us right now... we can't always have our cake and ice cream at the SAME TIME..

I will need you to candle those that are in lockdown. You see since we have opened and closed that bator so many times for the one, The others are at risk. Need to make sure they are all OK. We need to check on there dates, ANYONE that is on day 37 or More, lets give them a safe hole. Make the Safe hole Small no bigger then a pen point, you just need it big enough for air to get into the shell so they don't lose oxygen.. Make sure you settings are still at the right setting. 101-102 for Temp and humidity at 65 to 70

Only egg 5 is on day 37 - everyone else is "younger." I can hear 5 peeping...

**** if the humidity wasn't at 85%! I don't know what's wrong with this incubator! We removed the sponges and will start monitoring every 30 minutes!

Photos below:

Egg 5

Egg 5's hole (just the small dot at the top)

Egg 6 (We have seen movement in the past, but none while taking this photo)

Egg 7 (We have seen movement in the past, but none while taking this photo)

Egg 8 - Saw movement

Egg 9 (Saw TONS of movement!)

Egg 10 (I don't think we have ever seen movement in this one - and I think the air sac is awfully small, isn't it?)

My husband is shoveling snow to clear a bigger path for the chickens and ducks outside. When he comes in, we are going to work on peeling Peepers...will send photos then via PM.

Thank you Lori! Michelle

Number 5 is the only one I can tell that has dipped, so safe hole is good, the lighting it to bright so I can't tell where the beak is..

Number 6, 7, 9, 10 has not dipped yet and will need more time if they are still alive,

Number 8 leave him alone.. He's just now starting to dip really good...

Give number 5 at least 24 hours let's see what progress it can make...

Well, now I am wondering if I photographed the side of the egg that shows the dip!

Kathy - that's awesome! It helped me know what Lori meant by "dip." I am such a novice!

Lori - I sent you a PM with several photos. Kathy (and Lydia!), if you are interested in seeing the photos, I would be happy to send them to you, too. They are sad...
