Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

Oh wow, that is great info! Thank you. Will remember for next time.

ya, it's a little nerve wracking but i think it helps that I had chicks hatch not too long ago. when they externally pipped, i let them do they're thing. they all hatched perfectly without any help. I guess for me i read ducks take longer and you don't help as soon, but read other places there is a time to help or they'll die. that's what kind of had me worried before, not knowing when. But I have my emergency line here, so I feel much better.:)

LOCK THEM DOWN WOOOOO HOOOOO THE RACE IS ON, WHOS GONNA WIN!!!!

ok, I can see through the window the one rocking a little. so I assume it's internally pipped, correct? i upped the humidity to 60.
Now we wait….

WOW! I can't believe how much I have missed! I thought when you subscribed to a thread, you got e-mails when there was a new post in it! The only notification I got was from Kathy asking about the ducklings!

SO...the four little ones are doing great! Have had their swim - they get bathwater every day and BOY do they love it! They are growing and eating and running around and swimming - just the cutest little things!

Skippy (the first to hatch - the one I tied off the cord on) still has a little bump - all dried - where the cord was attached to her belly. She's not bothered by it and it looks OK, other than it is still there.

Do I need to worry about the amount of niacin they are getting? I read somewhere that ducks need more niacin than chickens in order for those little tree trunks we call duck legs to get big and strong. We've been feeding them Blue Seal Home Fresh Grow and Show Poultry Feed - worrying now whether it's appropriate!

Mama Zippy continues to lay daily - and we are leaving her eggs in the nest. She has six eggs there so far. She's laying in the cellar! Sigh! NOT my first choice, but it is what it is. She actually tore apart a spare roll of insulation we had sitting next to a freezer in the corner of the cellar. She made a nice nest between the freezer and a corner wall in the cellar. The chickens are using her nest to lay eggs when she is not in there - and I take them out as soon as I see them (we have no rooster - we're eating the chicken eggs). I'm just gonna let Mama Zippy do her thing and keep a watchful eye.

Sounds like we have lots of action going on here - and I am going to keep my eye on the happenings here, too! Looking forward to more ducklings and PICTURES!

AQ did I miss something I thought you had more eggs to hatch soon? when I had my one duckling inside I used brewers yeast sprinkled on top of his feed for the extra niacin.
