Incubation progress of Muscovy eggs

It sounds like its just the clear connective tissue and no blood vessels.
Good job :)
I wonder what makes them have that brown snotty stuff? The last few of mine had increasing amounts of it, the later it was in hatching. (Last one had the most)

I believe the bright yellow stuff is actually urates? That's what it looks like to me anyway.

So I didn't hurt it!!? I was so worried that it was some essential thing it needed to absorb but it wanted out and it wanted out NOW lol! I'm curious to know what it is too.
One of its feet (the one that stayed in the egg till it fully hatched) is curled up still and I keep pestering it trying to get it to try and stand so I can be content that on the surface it's a healthy duckling. It doesn't want any part of it though the little stinker. Just flat on its little belly chirping away when I talk to it.
How long will it need to stay in the bator for? I've got its brooder box set up and there's not going to be any shortage of cuddles for it lol.

I usually give mine 24 hours

Muscovies get dehydrated quickly, so the no food or water for 72 hours "thing" does *not* apply to them. The sooner it has access to water and food the better. They also seem to do better with in a brooder than they do in the incubator.

yeah, the incubator temperature is just too high, and speeds dehydration.

I've put it near the food and water several times now but it's not interested. I dipped the tip of it's beak in both and still nothing.
Last night, just to be on the safe side I did run a cotton tip with some gatorade on it down the side of its beak. Just shook its head and went back to sleep.
I'm hoping it works it out soon.

Just keep dipping it's beak in water. Carefully, of course.

Have you tried to wiggle your finger in the water? Making it move perhaps the excitement and curiousity of the water moving will get his interest? Just a thought, I helping someone now, who was having the same issue, but she finally got him to drink now we are working on getting the little bugger to eat..

Yeah I did that a few hours ago and it worked :)
It's not overly keen on the crumble though. It pecks a bit of it up then doesn't seem to know what to do with it. I'm thinking that will be a practice thing?
It's been very demanding never wanting to be left alone in the brooder. It's sibling is still in the bator drying off so I have been guilty of giving in to the LOUD chirping coming from the other side of the room and picking it up. Seems to like climbing up on my neck and snuggling under my hair.
I guess that would seem cosy to it.
