It's not overly keen on the crumble though. It pecks a bit of it up then doesn't seem to know what to do with it. I'm thinking that will be a practice thing?
It's been very demanding never wanting to be left alone in the brooder. It's sibling is still in the bator drying off so I have been guilty of giving in to the LOUD chirping coming from the other side of the room and picking it up. Seems to like climbing up on my neck and snuggling under my hair.
I guess that would seem cosy to it.

Well you could try to drop little pieces of food in the water and then he'll have to go to the water to get it. LOL.. YEH they love HAIR. LOL...

Well you can't blame them, I mean after all you are there MOMMY... He's just reminding you!!! LOL

That is a BRILLIANT idea :)
I also read grass 'soup' is a hit but is it too young to have other foods? I'll put a fair bit in the bottom of the waterer and see how we go.
I love that it is so cuddly but I'm worried if its sibling doesn't finish fluffing and perk up that it will be a single duckling living with humans and not knowing how to cope when it goes into the yard with the other ducks. They are friendly enough but weren't hand raised like this one will be. It's so bleedin cute and alone in that brooder that it's impossible not to give it cuddles aloy. Even my partner, who's a man's man gives it lots of cuddles lol.
 
So I need some advice...
The second duckling I hatched in the bator has been completely out of its shell for 24 hours now. I left it in the bator until a few hours ago as it has a lump on its tummy where it didn't quite go back in after it absorbed. I have been putting iodine on it and wanted to give it some time to perk up.
I've got it in the brooder now with its sibling but it just isn't making any effort to get up. It chooses to keep itself curled up in the position it was in in the egg. I've tried putting it on its back to encourage it, wrapped it in a towel and cuddled it for a few hours and it's now back in the brooder with its loud bossy sibling and is still the same :-(
Is this something any of you have experienced before?
And if so, is there anything I can do to help the poor bubba?

Can you get poultry nutridrench? Hard boiled egg yolk would be a good pick me up for it.
The nutridrench will gie it a boost to gain it's strength, it doesn't need to be digested....or at least that's what they say lol.

I don't have any eggs at the moment.
What is this nutridrench? Somebody else mentioned it too but I think it might be an American thing? Lol.
My concern is that it's not quite right. I'm really hoping it's just an energy or time thing.

It's probably exhausted. There is a homemade electrolyte mix you can make...floating around on the site somewhere...does anyone have that on hand?

I gave it some gatorade last night and earlier today. Well I put some on a q tip and rubbed it along the side of its bill. I might try that again?
