Incubation Question(s)

is it possible for an egg to be too thick to see much when candling or is it most likely infertile. it is one more than the other of the cochin eggs she lays generally thick eggs but this one i cant see through as much as the other.

Depending on your light, it's definitely possible. Marans and other dark layers are sometimes impossible to see. I have lavender orpingtons too, and even as light colored as their shells are, they can be very difficult to candle. My cochins, seramas, chocolate orpingtons, OEGBs and ducks are much easier to see into.
Flashlight with at least 250 lumens is good, the higher lumens the better :)

Edit to add - if it looks really dark inside the egg very early on, it could be rotten too, so always do a sniff test! Smell it for any bad odors, just to be safe.

candled eggs, and nice development in all of them

awesome! :clap

i didn't see any development in the "thick" egg and it didn't have any so more free room in my incubator.
the egg was a cochin egg and the other was fine so i got confused because the other egg worked with the same flash light

yes thank you.
this is my first staggered hatch so i am really nervous because i feel like i will forget to stop turning the eggs (auto turner), the first is due to hatch the 21st i think.

I've got my brooder set up! now working on food and water. ahh :barnie so crazy, as i am also waiting for a goat to kid. babies please!:fl

the egg due to hatch tomorrow layed by my red cochin has piped and the one layed 2/3 is rocking around. i candled yesterday and saw movement in the one due to hatch today, it hasn't piped. is some thing wrong with it? i have hatched before but none hatched late.

due dates are just guidelines. I wouldn't be too worried just yet, especially if you saw movement.
