Incubation temp??

What temperature is best for jumbo eggs?? I'm seeing between 99.5 and 101.5, I'm done making my bator. I've just got the get the thermostat zeroed in.

99.5 on a forced air and 102 on a still air incubator. I just shoot for 100 and if it falls a little it's fine, and if it rises a little, it's still fine.. just watch and make sure it don't go above 104.. If my temp set above 101 for more than 4 hours, I'm turning it down just a bit, below 99 for 4 hours, it goes up a bit... btw mine is forced air.

I'm wondering though, do the water heater thermostats turn on once the temperature gets too low. Or do they just cut on every 5 or 10 minutes (Or however long).. I'm trying to keep track now, but last time it went down to 91.5 before cutting on. But I aired it out so the temp would drop quicker.

They don't drop that low if it's set right. and You can't get the kick on temp by opening it up like that... just leave it closed up and see when it kicks on! I have a fridge that has a water heater thermostat in it and it has about 1 to 1 & 1/2 degree temp flux but I have my thermostat real close(within 6 inches) to the heat source! 24 hours to heat up and stabilize temp and your off to hatching!

I had problems thermostat temp control with swings of ten degrees... I drilled 3 holes in it first I drilled 1/8" Then I redrilled the holes to !/4"... Is 99.1(low) to 99.5(high) okay for a forced air?? Or is that too low? I've been trying to get it just right, I've hit this mark a few times but it seems that if I try making it a smidge higher the temp goes all the way to 101+.. My eggs will be here Thursday, so I can try making it a hair higher again if I need to.

Not Sure Where Those Temperature Suggestions Came From, But For Gamebirds Its 99.5 Forced Air And 100.5 Still Air. Or As Close As You Can Keep It To These Is Optimal--- I Have No Experience With Water Heater Thermostats But See Many Postings Berating Them For Their Wild Swings And Difficulty In Regulation? If You Experience Large Variation You Might Try Adding Heat Sinks To Your Bator They Will Often Times Help Limit The Swings.
