Incubator chicks growing faster than those hatched by mothers... ?

We hatched a batch of chicks in the incubator at the same time we had some broodies setting. The chicks all hatched around the same time and there is a noticeable difference in development in both size and feathering. The ones with the mothers are staying smaller for longer and feathering out more slowly. This is our first time with a side by side comparison. Has anyone else ever noticed this happening in their flock? Thanks a bunch for y'alls input.

I've never compared them, but I will be comparing them soon enough (possibly within the next 2 weeks). But I have read that chicks that have a momma hen taking care of them will eat less and spend more time sleeping under their momma than eating and playing and such. So that is why brooder chicks tend to grow faster or bigger than chicks raised by a hen.
