Incubator humidity

Hi again!

I think I'll stop worrying for the first 18 days as the humidity is above 40%

Then at day 18? Panic! what do I do?

Like Amy said, I have the Brinsea 20, and 40-42% is my magic number, but I would go with RubyNala on that. She's using a mini. I don't know why 50% is so widely published. I have never heard of anyone having success that high

I think I thought of something for lockdown in the mini! Cut a sponge and stick it in here:

That's where all my condensation builds up anyway, so it should stay moist throughout hatch.

I have just purchased a Janoel incubator and have 6 JG eggs in. I placed the eggs in 5 days ago but my hygrometer is reading at 60% + at times with no water in at all. How do I bring the humidity down if there is no water to remove. Could I add some salt or rice in the bottom to take any moisture out ??

I have been a little silly sorry.
It is an indoor and outdoor thermometer but just an indoor hygrometer which means it's reading from outside the incubator. Not form the lead I have fed into the incubator.

Hey that's ok! Just make sure you calibrate the new hygrometer when it comes with the salt test! Are they shipped eggs or local?

Shipped, I couldn't find any GJ local although they haven't been posted from too far.
My last 6 I bought I had a success of 2/6 I put this down to the cheap little incubator. So I invested in 6 more and a fresh new incubator, for my addiction lol.
I have also put one of my own eggs in just out of curiosity

What incubator did you get? How were the air cells when you got them? I've done a bunch of shipped eggs this year, don't know how risky they are.

Air cells ??? I'm not that experienced with all that yet

just buy em and put em in lol.
