Incubator info?

I found this info to be true when I was asking about bators.

I loved my Genesis, I traded in the LG for a Hovabator within a week of getting it, and it is AMAZING! I even paid for the 2 day shipping because I couldn't take another minute with the LG.

And I have been thinking about getting one because I want a larger capacity. I need that like a hole in my head!

When I saw it, I only noticed it had an automatic egg turner. I didn't notice the brand. I can post a reply tomorrow to let you know the brand. It is a feed store. They have supplies for like... every farm animal! lol We already have the chick starter feed (medicated, but I don't know why it's medicated), food and water bowls (and marbles to put in the water bowl so they don't drown), liquid vitamin to add to their water, and dewormer for when they are 4-6 weeks old. I'm really excited about using a real incubator for the first time. We never had trouble incubating eggs, when I was a kid, with homemade incubators. I just don't know what went wrong.

I'm glad it will have a window. Should I take the turners out before lock down, or after hatching? How soon after hatching do they start eating and drinking water? We always hatched and raised baby birds when I was a kid. Never chickens. We had robins, cardinals, killdeer. I have a good feeling that a real incubator will work to hatch chicks this time. The temperature in our room does fluctuate. Sometimes it has a bit of a chill, and other times it gets hot and humid. I live in NE Ohio, so we're still fighting off that last bit of cold weather. It goes from 30's and 40's for a couple of days up to 70's and 80's a few days and back again. So I will definitely keep a VERY close eye on the settings every day. You should have seen me with the last try. I was looking in there every day. It was a really good incubator. Large box, plastic windows made from scrap book pages, so it was double layer, and gorilla taped into place. Lined with newspaper. I used a microwave oval cooker to have eggs on. It was two layers. The bottom layer held the water, and had a heating pad under it on low to keep the water warm for humidity. And then had a utility light over the eggs. No forced air, it was still. And the temp was 96 throughout. So they would have been late had they not died. I feel so bad. And it's worse with not knowing why it happened. But thank you so much for your help. I REALLY appreciate it! If there is anything else you can think of, please let me know!
