Incubator & movement in egg. - RIP Chip/Chipette

I will definitely look for those things. Everything I can find !
The 100 watt is about a two feet above the duckling and the thermometer says 90 degrees.
sounds good on temp. each week it should drop 5 degrees. once your other ducklings hatch they will keep each other warm too. so you won't need to have the temp that high, I started out at 85 with my lone duckling last year.
keep it at 90 now though till you can watch and see how it reacts to that warm a temp.

You can find save a chick at most TSC and poultry nutri drench there too.  yes thats what they are called. and if you have trouble with finding either of those then my next try would be the poly vi so with out iron as Iain stated. I wouldn't diagnose the little one with wry neck yet, but the 3 things we just suggested will help if it is, also when it starts to eat either use Brewers yeast and sprinkle on top of feed or niacin capsules or tablets crush and put into water to prevent leg and neurological issues. you could try putting his bill into some sugar water tonight or in the morning but deff by the time you get home tomorrow afternoon, it may not want to eat till the next day but doesn't hurt to offer it. Don't keep up the sugar water though it's just to get them started. and X2 on the heat from the light bulb, especially till he gets his legs and can move away if too warm.

May I ask what TSC is?
And thanks to both of you for all of the help.
I'll definitely do the sugar water thing by after school tomorrow. The local feed store and Walmart are very close to my school if needed.
I'd rather not do anything to him now since he's all cuddled up with his bear now.
Rather than his usual spot of keeping his head to the right, he's been laying on his beak or laying it to the left.
He seems to like being right under the light also.
Thanks !

Tractor Supply. and your right he is better off just resting and snuggling with his new buddy bear for tonight.

The closest TSC is about 60 miles away or so. So hopefully my local feed store will have it, or petsmart or Walmart or I'll have to drive 60 miles :p . I'll be getting those drops tomorrow and yeah he's just laying there with new teddy.

It's 6:03AM and I just woke up. My father has been up with the duckling all night because he would try to walk (circles) and it seems he only walks on one foot or sometbing also he would tilt his head back and fall then begin to flail his legs and cry. His head is a little better but it's still tilted weirdly. We definitely need to get that medicine today because me or my dad can't stay up all night with him. So I'm making a list of the stuff you both have recommended and will go find it. If you have any ideas or anything about what is going on, I'd love to know.
Thanks

You might try taking a small towel like a hand towel and making a nest out of it to hold the lil one in the right position till it gets strength. Till it can hold itself upright and not fall over someone will have to keep an eye on it. If it does have wry neck then getting the vitamins will help it alot.

I called the vet, no answer. Then I called two breeders in my area and said it is a skeletal disease where the chest bone is pushed outward along with the head being tilted and all it will do is have his head tilted back and fall to flail on his back. They said that holding his head up with two fingers on each side MAY help but then they said wait a week before you give him medicine. I said no to that obviously because I believe the longer I wait, the worst he will get. So I am going to NPR (New Port Richey) to get Sav-A-Chick, Nutri-Drench Poultry Drench, and Brewers Yeast.
Hopefully all of this will help, and hopefully the people at the TSC may have some more advice. The baby has been sleeping in my parents arms for a while but tonight he is going to be barricaded in a box so he won't flail onto his back and die.
Thanks and give me any information that you think will help.

When you get back can you take a few pics so we can actually see what your talking about? I would be very surprised if anyone at TSC knows what to do for a duckling, but at least you'll get the things he needs. are you actually seeing what these 2 breeders are saying in your duckling? Maybe if we can see a pic we'll be able to help more. There are folks on here that have hatched lots of ducklings and have encountered many things, so hopefully someone will be able to help.

I am back and I do have pictures of how his head lays on his neck.
It's very weird and upsetting to watch him with this like the way it is.
He has to sleep with his head tilted all the way up or lay on his back or on his side while laying his head on a towel or animal.
He wastes so much energy by trying to keep himself up that it's not even funny.
He puts his head up a little then it tilts all the way back and his chest bone pushes him off balance to eventually falling on his back.
He also keeps his eyes closed a lot, the only time he has them open is when he eats or drinks.
The feed store didn't have any of the medicine, and the TSC store obviously had no idea of what to do or what could help.
They also only had Sav-A-Chick and the Brewers Yeast but they said the Brewers Yeast was for dogs and cats but didn't know if it could be used for ducks.
They were out of Nutri-Poultry Drench Drops even though the side said in stock so they may have some Wednesday.
Here's the pic of the poor baby (not to mention we have about 5 more coming from the same Crested parents this coming weekend):

How he sits before falling back.

How he lays against the side and how he keeps his head up so far. Before he lays on his side.

Twisted neck to the right side of his body.

How far he keeps his head tilted to the right, he's not pointing his head almost completely up turned to the right.

How he wants to sleep but eventually falls from position. (cuddling with teddy)

And those are the photos.
I thought ducks had cartilage as their necks so why is the neck so far turned? Can't a medication straighten it out as he grows?
Also next to his eye, it looks like he has an indentation of the skull. Not sure.
Thanks.

I hope someone comes in that can tell you what needs to be done for this lil one. you say he is eating and drinking? thats alot of hope right there, and save a chick is better than nothing right now. After reading Kevins post about the crested gene and all the problems that can come from it, I honestly don't know what to say about this lil duckling. I know your going to give it all the care and love you can and hopefully that will be enough. But you have to know it could still not make it. I know you have figured out what to do to keep him up right for sleeping by now. Please let us know how it is doing in the morning. Does it peep alot ? is it trying to walk about at all?
