incubator problem

i have gqf 1270 cabinet incubator. i fired it up for the season a few days ago, andi am having temp problems. my front therm i can adjust but i will only go to about 95 degrees and not higher, i turned off my front therm, and tryed my back therm and temp doesn't go above 95 degrees. i think it is my heating element but not shore. i have never had to replace anything or fix anything on it. so not 100% on what i need to replace. thought about replacing the heating element and my front therm. but i say the price on them and if i don't need one right know i will get on at the end of the season and replace it them. also the model # for my front therm is 3140 and i cant find it, is the model# 3255 multi-turn therm the same thing? it would be great if i could get a little info before i start replacing parts that i don't need to and end up with putting a lot of money into it.

Your heating element will be all or nothing. It will either produce heat or not, it won't work part way. I'm not familiar with the GQF electronic thermostats, but if you have switched to the wafer thermostat and still can't get the heat up, assuming that the incubator worked properly in the past, I would question your thermometer accuracy. You didn't say what you are using for a thermometer, but if it is the dial faced one with the long metal probe like the ones used in the old Sportsman you need to know that the big end of them can rotate on the internal parts and throw the reading off. This can happen quite easily if you twist and turn it while pulling it out of the side of the incubator. If that's the one you are using you might try standing it in a glass of warm (100 degree) water along with a fever thermometer and compare the readings. If you find that it is off you can hold the probe behind the head with a pair of pliers and twist the front to correct the reading.

hey thanks that information is great. i do us the thermometer that has that long probe and you stick it in the side of the incubator i will check the thermometer.
