I bought an incubator off ebay after checking reviews I thought it was ok.2-48 egg batches and not a single hatch.I suspect its a turner issue but its going in the trash.Any recommendations that don't break the bank?

That is odd, I have the same exact incubator (including the egg turner) and have very good hatch rates. If you suspect that the egg turner has malfunctioned why don't you remove it and hand turn them yourself? It's better than throwing it in the trash. Unless that is not the issue you seem to be dealing with.

Its just a thought with the turner.I guess it could be the temp and humidity being off.

Sounds like you need to figure out the temp and humidity.

My question is, why do you think it’s the turner? That’s the last thing I’d look at and I’m betting you’ll find your problem elsewhere.

The turner just kinds of tilts them side to side so I wasn't sure if that's effective.I'll use an independent humidity and temp sensor and see if it matches what the incubator reads.

Yes, you’d think the turner would turn them over somehow, wouldn’t you? It doesn’t, tho. It just tilts them side to side. What they need from a turner (whether mechanical or mommylogical, is to keep the air sac from adhering to one spot on the shell.

Are these your own quails’ eggs or shipped? Shipped eggs will often have a low fertility rate because of the traumas of having been shipped, heated, cooled, jostled, dropped... If your own, maybe try another papa next time?

And of course check the thermometer & hygrometer. If you’ve moved it to a different location, maybe you want to move it back. If your house is suddenly dry because of running the heater a lot, that could have an impact. Or more humid, or, or, or....
