Mine is working too. So what all happens when we do this hatch-along. I have never done one before.

I assume a new thread will be started and it will say something like "4/15 Hatch along, Join us". But we need to make sure that cackydoodledoo Gets her brinsea in time. SHe is worried she will not have enough time to allow her Brinsea to run prior to putting her eggs in. I have had mine running since aroun 1:20-2:00 this afternoon. It stays around 99.7. Does yours stay right at 99.5 or move up and down a little?

I think we will be fine. It left Kansas an hour ago so it should make it to Commerce City, CO tonight or early am and then on to Pueblo tomorrow and then out for delivery Thurs. Talked to my friend and she said I should be fine. I will have Thursday night and Friday to let it run.

I think we do start a new thread as you said.

Question: Do I need to sanitize or clean the bator before using it the first time?

I would just wipe it down with some soapy water and rinse it really well before using it. One thing I learned the hard way is DO NOT SUBMERGE THE YELLOW BASE PART in water. It has foam pieces inside it and metal too and I rusted my metal pieces by dipping it in water and I also have to take it apart to dry out the foam.

So just wipe it and rinse it out. You can use mild bleach water to sanitize it. Just make sure to wipe it out with plain water really good to get rid of bleach fumes.

What about lysol wipes followed with a damp towel???

I have never done that, but I would say as long as you wipe off all the residue after with clear water it should be ok. I really want to invest in a big bottle of Oxine. I have heard it is the best thing to clean all your chicken stuff with.

Oh I know!!! I was going to order the SPot check and they wanted just as much for sihpping as the auctual thermometer cost!!! I even kinda complained on their facebook page about the shipping. There is no way ot cost $25.00 to ship me my incubator. That is like the highest shipping I have paid for something so small. Not to mention almost all onlien retailers ship for FREE if you spend enough money. They said since I got 10% with a coupon code, It was a good deal. The 10% only covers shipping......Really high shipping!!! That http://www.amazon.com/Bio-Cide-International-Oxine-AH-Gallon/dp/B000HT7H8W requires a activator and I have never heard of this chemical before.
