Hello everyone,

This is my first time incubating and for the first week everything was great... after the first week one of my sons raised the temp to 109 for about 4-5hrs, does anyone know if the eggs could survive for that long?
Is there any way to find out if they are ok?

you can candle them and look for movement at about 10 days. 5 hrs is a long time at that high a temp

I know.. I'm so upset. We candle the eggs the night before and everything was good the next day is when it happened.

My eggs are hatching right now and they went probably 36 hours past 104 and they are doing fine.....
I'd just keep em in the incubator till day 27 ..... If nothing happens take em out..
This is my first batch of eggs and the first one started pipping on day 22 ,so I wouldn't rush em...;)

That is very high for a good while and you may very well see some losses, but you may yet still have some pull through it. Give them a few days and see.

the beauty of this hobby is we can try again. I cooked some expensive eggs in an LG 109F for a couple of hours. The next week I switched the thermostat for a digital one for 15 bucks. Now the cheapo bator is as reliable as a Genesis 1588

Also if some chicks made it through the high period, keep in mind that high temps in incubation can cause early hatching. Keep a close eye on them when the lockdown date nears.

Thanks everyone. I candled the eggs and 7 out of 9 are moving some quicker than others but they are moving.
