I've never had issues with the turner nor the insert. Chicks walk on it just fine. Good luck with your new incubator...You'll love it!!

I was right there watching when my first batch of chicks were hatching and seeing them throw themselfs around on that wire insert right after they hatched just broke my heart lol It just looked so uncomfortable that from then on I lay paper towels right before they hatch
