Incubators Anonymous

Guess who's incubator will magically be turning back on tonight..... Yup, mine. My new, blue silkie roo has been paired with one of my young black pullets. I have got to see what adorable fluffy butts they make! Eggs go in tomorrow :)

:clap
Good luck!

Yup my bators off function seems to be faulty as well I can get it to go off for short spans of time and then proof it's running and loaded with eggs once more..... I was seriously tempted to order some more but I am trying to behave. Besides I have way too many cool possibilities in my own back yard... I am still hopeful for lots of Nn out of the batch due the 22nd.... lol

Good luck! Silkies are such cute little fluff balls, can't wait to see them!

Just an update, 7 of 7 silkie eggs are looking great! Veining in every one!
Congrats!

I realize I have a serious incubation addiction..... It's fall & not the time to be hatching. I still have a pretty collection of eggs sitting on the counter. (You know, the nice clean, perfectly shaped, fertile purebred eggs that you might consider slipping into an incubator or giving to a broody.) The incubators should be in storage by now. Although not filled to capacity, I have 6 eggs due to hatch tomorrow-Sat. & 2 more eggs due next Wed. (With just a few eggs, the incubators basically look empty. I keep telling myself that anyway.) I also practiced a tiny bit of self control by not adding any new eggs to the incubators. I plan to turn them off for the year next week. However, a hen went broody last week, so she ended up with some of my egg collection. (It doesn't count if a hen is hatching them, right?) Yesterday, my serama laid an egg..... and BOY AM I TEMPTED! She laid some eggs, went broody, was broken, & finally started laying again. The little egg was added to my counter collection. I don't know if I can wait until spring to see chicks from my serama pair.

I have a pair of serama hens that hatched 4 last week. Lost one overnight last night, the final one that had hatched, just wasn’t keeping up. I tried Nutridrench and some warmth inside yesterday evening, but put it back with the rest overnight, and it didn’t make it. :( it was a white silkied too. :( :(

One last bantam cochin broody I gave the leftover serama egg to, it should hatch soon. Then I hope they are done. The last hatch i incubated myself are now over a month old and haven’t sold, so I’m definitely done for the year. :P
(Unless my ducks give me some eggs)
