Good luck on your hatch Feedman! I'm winding down my hatching season. Two more hatches left, one this weekend and one next weekend. I have numerous poults that I'm trying to sell. I had no problems unloading them all season and now it seems everyone stopped wanting them lol.

My selling started off well. But slowed as well.

I have 16 in a big brooder pen. But my hold back skills must have slipped had 4 of them trying to strut at each other .

So at least 4 toms.

Any hatching from now out will just be on my quail.

Good luck on your hatches as well.

Just set 14 quail eggs. Never hatched them before. So gonna be a learning curve. I hope they need everything the same as chickens and turkey.

Find out in 18 days. Also see if my males are taking care of business.

Has everyone recovered from their addiction or are you all back up to your old habits?

I haven't started the incubator yet this year bit it will be soon.

I definitely haven't recovered lol. The cabinet has been running again since October and there are at least 90 eggs in it right now with 17 on lockdown in the hatcher lol

If this group is still going I'd like to join you.

My name is Bente and I was 10 years sober. Even sold my bator. Then my husband bought me a farm. Sobriety over.

I'm starting out slowly. I didn't want to get over my head. I made up some story about a classroom project for my kindergartener. So they can learn about hatching ha ha. I set 28 mixed eggs on the 28th and 2nd. I then ordered 35 chicks online for instant gratification.

The real horror started this morning when I woefully took my babies as i call them to my daughter's school, where I then spent an hour and a half procrastinating and looking at the bator with a serious face pretending i was making important adjustments and readings.

Eventually I had to leave the classroom. It was getting obvious. And now I sit here wondering what have I done??!! The gravity of my horrible mistake is becoming evident. Who will candle them obsessively every night?? Who will check the angles of the thermometers and the cant of the turner? Who will walk over at least 9 times an hour to just stare at them, willing away blood rings and emptiness?

So naturally the only reasonable thing to do is to buy another incubator, and immediately search for more eggs.

If I hide the second bator it's like it won't even exist :::maniacal laugh:::

I have 23 babies in my SHOWER, 23 babies in a plastic tote in that same bathroom, and I just set 63 eggs. Mix of Speckled Sussex, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Blue Wyandottes, Heritage RIR, Barred Rock and Frilkie/Silkie eggs.

My incubator is FULL, and I have 2 more shipments of eggs on their way.

I have a hatching problem....

Sorry, we are really just a bunch of enablers here!!!

I feel for all of you, I am so glad I can control my incubating. It has never been a problem for me, I know my limits. I am not obsessed with it.

To prove this, I will tell you that as of tomorrow I will be below 600 eggs in my incubators. There is nothing to worry as long as I can prove my ability to stop at anytime.

Also Thursday is my Incubation day. I am not going to incubate on Thursdays again this year. I am changing to Saturday night and Sunday morning. the hatches will be on Sunday then so I can mail the chicks on Monday. I am finally at the point in the year the post office will take chicks from me.

Those of us in the 5 state area covered by Spee Dee will get the birds by them. They are faster than the post office. I can send them from here at 1pm and most people will have them the next morning. I like that speed. I am going to check the cost today but I think it is cheaper than the post office to.

Time to go candle eggs again..... I hope you guys get the kind of self control I have soon. Otherwise Incubation will ruin your life! Get some strength guys! Make me your role model!
