So final count on the shipped bielefelder eggs..... 10 out of 12 are running around the brooder! Yeah..... the last one still seems to flip flop but time will tell

I have half my incubators turned off...

Actually 2/3rds!

I just have the one running and of course the hatcher for it......

I was going to turn it off on the 17th..BUT now I realize I need to hatch one more batch of test breeding.....PC's....

It's funny, I only take care of the babies, and even then, most days I don't do that. I had to cover for the two people that do take care of everything, and it taught me, I'm done hatching for a long while. I have 3 pens in the garage, 2 small coops outside, and 5 pens in the backyard. That is WAY too much work in this heat. So, my bators are empty, 5 of 6 are unplugged. 1 turner is still on, but I hate stopping it mid turn, and I never seem to think about it until it's tipped all the way over. I've stopped watching the auctions and I've told my broody mommas to suck it up. They're getting nothing. I lasted a year last time I tried this....

I did sell 2 hens and 1 roo today. So, SLOWLY, very slowly I am downsizing.

Since I can't have roo's, I have always purchased shipped eggs. For some reason, the Polish and the Sebrights I got from different sides of the country around Easter seem to have a bunch with scissor beaks. The only Scissor beaks I've had before, were in Polish chicks. Is it common with Polish? What about Seabrights?

I just candled and moved my "test breeding" to the hatcher.

Worlds lowest percentage hatch under way. If I get a dozen chicks I will be amazed.

I was testing the PC and I only have 3 eggs from them with a chance. 2 from one hen and one from another....Oh well such is life.

Well, I've had my first experience with a bad egg breaking in my incubator :/ I was hoping that it would never happen to me. Thankfully, I found a second bad one before it could blow but now the entire room stinks (my bedroom of course) and since I didn't think to wear gloves (I'm an idiot) my fingers stink. Even after scrubbing them and soaking them in vinegar and baking soda water. I learned a few lessons today I think... hopefully, the bowl of baking soda in the bottom of my bator succeeds at gathering up the rest of the stench.
