That's a good start, you have a ways to go to be a full fledged addict.

Does 3 brooders(each sectioned in half so technically 6), 3 incubators(1 incubating eggs, 1 used for lockdown, 1 just found on craigslist and being mailed), 43 eggs incubating with staggered hatch dates, and 12 more on order, and I'm considering buying another dozen that I've found for a fantastic price, count as being a full fledged addict? If not I would like some insight as to where I am half-a**ing things

Just about died reading this!!!!! I do believe you are IN THE CLUB!!!

And I firmly believe and support when you find eggs...bators,,,chicken related items...and a great price, they should be snatched up immediately!!! It is a sign it is meant to be and you NEED to act quickly

And always remember and never forget...you need enough incubators to snatch up all those great priced eggs!!!! You need enough great brooders to raise those babies...and you always need enough eggs to put your bators to good use! It is a cycle that depends on always having PLENTY of eggs, bators and brooders...LOL! There you have it, my addict speech for the night!

I try to always give my 110%

I was half hoping someone would tell me that I just didn't make the grade so I had to try harder

Oh I forgot to mention that I made my 2 oldest chicks diapers to free up their brooder since my bedroom stays pretty warm. I'm not sure if that crosses line between addiction and insanity

LOl...nope...not crossing the line, just making great use of space and allowing your little chicks to become part of family living..right

....LOL! Don't forget..you do have to continue to give 110% to stay in the club so you really are always "trying harder"! My Bantam Cochin girl became a house chicken because she was a lone hatch and has remained a house chicken ever since! Loves being with her "people"..LOL!

Awww cute! I love cochins. Eventually I will add a few to my growing flock. My oldest chicks are 2 silkies a little more than 4 weeks old and they prefer being out of their brooder anyway. And I wasn't a fan of all the poo on everything because they were feeling social LOL I'm having a hard time imagining putting them outside but I suspect one is a roo and I already have an alarm clock in my room! Oh I don't think I will have any problem holding up my end of things. When I found my new incubator earlier I was trying to ignore all the eggs in lockdown to make time go faster, so I was looking for more eggs(naturally). I happened to run across the ad and it was a DEAL. All the people I've ordered eggs from have been very generous (YAY) and sent a few extras and I was actually going to have to take my turner out to fit them all, plus the ones I still have on order. Problem solved!

I have a pip in one of my cream legbar eggs! It's in the middle of the egg, more towards the narrow end. I'm a little worried. It is peeping. I peeled just a tiny bit of egg to reveal the membrane and made a tiny snip near the beak. It's day 21, but I had a half day where the temp was a little low (92-94), so if they are ok, they will probably hatch late. I don't want to to rush help this one, but I am worried about it since it's not in the big end.

A local friend of mine has cream legbars from the same batch from the same breeder. She had 2-3 pip like this and they all died. :(
