I just told my DH about this. He's busy with our only chick. I'm hatching her a flock, but I told him we have to be her flock until the eggs hatch. I sure hope she turns out to be a she!!! I don't think I could cull her now that she's learned to copy his whistling at her.
oh my gosh! Too cute! I wouldn't be able to cull after that eitherI just told my DH about this. He's busy with our only chick. I was wondering if anyone has an incubator they'd be willing to part with for free or cheap. Please PM me.
I have an EE rooster, but I have to re-home him. My junior roo has already started mounting some of the hens, so I won't be able to be sure of who's eggs are being fertilized by whom very soon. I stacked eggs in the incubator that I already have on (which is something I didn't really want to do, but I was going to lose those eggs like tomorrow and Sat if I didn't get them in a 'bator).
Anyway, if anyone has an incubator, please PM me and we can work out details.
Thanks. =)

We can always use more people to join in the madness... come check it out!This one everyone is setting eggs on specific dates in hopes of all hatching on the same day (New Years). It's a lot of fun. The thread moves FAST though![]()
My incubators are empty for the first time in months, which is so sad. I don't know if I can get eggs to set on that day but I want to get more Silkie eggs. I hatched 2 but I am sure one is a roo and I still want more broody hens!!
Empty... bators....I panic when mine start looking half empty LOL empty would be devastating!
Do you ever order through ebay? A lot of people are lucky and have lots of wonderful breeds to choose from where they're located. I'm just not one of those lucky people so I haunt ebay and craigslist a lot. Earlier I was browsing through all the hatching eggs listings and there are a lot of silkie auctions for really good prices. I got 18 silkie eggs for $35 about a week and a half ago. I have 3 silkie chicks currently and I'm starting to think both of the older ones are roos. It's so hard to tell with silkies though and they're only about 5 weeks old. I was hoping for broodies too and I just love their looks and personalities.![]()
