didn't you guys see the rule posted that everyone who keeps chickens MUST also keep Polish for comic relief? I am growing out a bunch of Polish, different colors. They are like potato chips, one is not enough!

yes well I have an extreme hobby I have a small 4 acre farm but I love my birdies and cant help but keep them all including my roosters..no in breeding at all as I switch with my grandparents all the time each spring we do a swap that way when they go to freezer camp I dont know about it...lol! I love my brooder downstairs..right now I have it split up into 6 different pens i have 2 month olds still in there and a whole whack load of different ages..all either destined for pets or freezer meat..gotta love chicken!

Sounds like a super set up. I had my basement in Canada split up into four flight pens for my finches, canaries, budgies and cockatiels . I could walk in and they would land on my shoulders.

I am happy to be adding a sink with a drain for disposing of nasty chick water in the insulated room, but no running water , yet.

i live in canada

I tryed hatching out two batches of FBCM eggs from a BYC'er on here, by alas out of the 24+ none hatched!!

I REALLY want some Marans of some sort, but can't seem to get a good hatch rate. When I get ready to try some Marans again I might try Wynette. How much does she charge for 1-2 dozen? Also, what colors does she have? How did she pack.. How the eggs are packed helps a great deal in the hatch rate, for better or for worst!

..not to mention the P.O. ...

Hmm interesting idea for a follow up thread. I am thinking we must enlist some therapy experts into the new thread though. We are clearly too far gone to help ourselves lol.

On a side note I went to take my eggs out of the incubator today since none of them had developed and it was past day 10. Well one of them exploded. It smelled horrible and left greenish yellowish goo all over my incubator. It was terrible. So no eggs hatching for me. But I do have some more eggs coming on Tuesday, hopefully they will hatch since the last batch is toast. I cleaned out the incubator really well with soap and water and then peroxide and then vinegar and it will go out in the sun all day tomorrow. Hopefully that will kill any germs that are in it before the next batch gets here.

I moved all the eggs out of the incubator into the hatcher. Now I get to fiddle with the homemade incubator to make any changes and hopefully have a more consistant temperature. Got to have it ready for the next eggs ready to set. Not sure what they will be, still want Buckeyes, more marans and white leghorns. Not sure where I'll put them for the winter . . . I'll work it out! WHere there is a will, there's a way! I'm definitely considering WYnette's marans as you had such a good hatch, mstricer. Can't do much about USPS, but packaging, good really good, packaging could help.
