Chicken pusher lol i like it. I am in need of more dellys I don't have nearly enough yet lol. But wait I'm supposed to be being good and putting the incubator away for the winter. Sigh so much for being good.

Put it away for the winter? But winter is boring! Chicks only take up a light and a tub! It will help keep your house heated for a fraction of the cost of just running a heater in that room! And the CUTE!

But I only have one tub and I do wash occasionally. Maybe I can put them in the spare bedroom. My husband will never notice.

::ahem::

They hatched last weekend. I may have devoted the entire weekend to looking at them.

And, I may have just bought another set of eggs from another member here. And I may be in talks for some more eggs from another member here. And, it may be that all those eggs would be probably shipped to me early next week, and that it would wind up being about two-and-a-half-dozen eggs, total.

Oh ye gods. I officially have no self-control, huh?

::stands up in front of the group::

1> I admit that I am powerless over hatching and that my life is becoming unmanageable.
2> I have come to believe that powers greater than myself - namely, ample and consistent radiant and convection heating, humidity, favorable genetics, and cooperative broody hens - could restore me to sanity.
3> I have made a decision to turn my life over to broody hens - just as soon as I can raise some up.
4> I've made a searching inventory, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any more eggs around here that need to be incubated. Yet.
5> I've - okay, no, I haven't told my husband where the eggs really came from. I may never be able to make this step.
6> I'm ready for those cooperative broody hens to get grown already. Isn't this why I just hatched silkies? C'mon! Work with me here!
7> I've already talked to them about growing up their broody butts. I'm waiting for them to comply.
8> I've made a list of all the people I've gotten eggs from, and I've sent them all paypal payments.
9> Make direct amends except where to do so would injure? It would injure my husband's relationship with my Las Vegas friend if he knew she'd participated in a ... subterfuge ... to him. Therefore, I'm in the clear there.
10> Continue to take inventory - well, I get an egg or two a day, so far. Some of them are fertile. But I'm trying to eat them all.
11> I've thought a lot about how to better my hatch rates. Does that count as prayer and meditation?
12> Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, I am trying to carry this message to alcoholics ... erm, hatchaholics ... and to practice these principles in all my affairs.

There you go. I'm in. What days do we meet? Who brings the eggs?

We should meet Tuesdays and Thursdays and all bring eggs to trade so we can support each others habits.

I have to report to the group that I have officially fallen off the wagon. I will have 24 eggs coming next week. They will be shipped out next Monday. I truly need therapy. I see baby chicks running around the spare bedroom in my future.

I kept saying I wasn't going to take any more eggs on the swap.:-D Hilarious , I know. Those BLRW eggs sat there for so long they could have hatched. I just felt sorry for them. I really don't need another breed...So many quail have hatched, I lost count... Chicks are hatching pretty much every day. It's terribly fun!

I have my staggered hatches about 3-5 days apart and there is *always* something happening in the hatcher! I wish I could get up to East TN; there are so many BYCers there. I'm in the west part of the state. But I may be making the trip in October or November; it depends on speckledhen and Cetawin. I'll be meeting Ladyhawk somewhere along I-75 to pick up Atlas, a Son of Suede, speckledhen's glorious Blue Orp roo. Once everything is set up, I'll post a general route and maybe we can do an egg swap!

They are already running around my kitchen/dining room! I wasn't told ducks can jump out of their brooder because they sure can't fly with those fat bodies and tiny wings! Turkeys in another brooder; three born around he time of Irene in another box and Ameraucans and EE hatching today. I'm certifiable -- some one please help me . . . . LOL Thank goodness the turkeys go outside every day!

I need more coops.

I was checking out my Brahmas young ones today and realizing that the ones I had thought might be girls are looking very boyish now. Hmmm....does this mean I need to add some Brahma eggs to my incubator for my next round? Two batches of Delaware eggs coming and a batch of Brahmas. I am definitely in BIG trouble lol. Where can I hide 36 new baby chicks when they pop out lol.
