Incubators Anonymous

well, whoever gave me "Godzirra egg" gave me another today. and one of her pen-mates gave me "godzirra jr" now if she'd lay any normal eggs, i'd put them in the 'bator because they're some of the biggest quail i've got.

we'll see.

Are they the white with green streak and spot on head???? I was going to sk what they were, Cool chick coloring. Will be interesting to see the adult color come in.

lol yes I didn't have any chick bands so I colored top of head with permanent marker ..... those 2 are light creamy yellow with a turqoise mark on their heads. They are leghorn crosses.....lol lol !!!

Ok just to share, marking babies. I am going to use Vetwrap to tag babies from now on. No worry about in growing zip ties. After they get bigger I will switch to the velcro. I love both of these methods. They don't come off. Ok I had one of the velcro one get stuck to another birds tag, but no biggie, I know where it went

Here are the velcro things. I use pipe cleaner for color to ID each bird. I use one color for FAMILY and then another for individuals. You can also use diff color velcro

Where are all the cute chick pix??????? If I can't incubate right now then I MUST have some pictures at the very least!!

Great idea on the legs bands DOnna, very clever!

My girls are picking up on the egg laying!!! WHOOOTTT! About a dozen eggs a day now. Just need my breeder coops/pens built. Bee a VERY slow process. A case of more planning than doing to keep the costs very low and to built it right the first time.

Marans are laying again, and the EE. THey live together and don't get supplemental light.
