Who woulda thought? The incubator I gave up on? I now have hatching chicks. At least 4 or 5. I guess with the temps lower than they should have been almost contstantly, they are just hatching out a couple of days later than they should. I'm really surprised. Has this happened to anybody else? I can hear peeping in a couple of the eggs, and a couple more are rolling from side to side.

Maybe the LG isn't that bad. Or maybe it gets easier the more you do it. At least now I have a baseline to go by.

If your temps where low that is exactly what is happening. I have never had a chick hatch later, well more than a half a day anyway. But my temps are spot on.

Well lock down inst till tammrow but after I got my wally bator all cleaned out and air dried after my quail babies hatched it looked so long by its self empty of eggs so I decided to move all the eggs going to lock down into it I will candle tonight and lock down will offically start tammrow .
Ok so we have barnyard mix eggs, we have serama , silkies , D' whatsits? , bobwhite quail and chukars . I wonder how small those bobwhites are gonna be the eggs are tiny Do you think I should try to section off a part or would they just get stuck in the wire or whatever? I was gonna hatch them in my Brinsea

but I cant as its busted so they hatch with the rest of the eggs.
Its a good thing I have 50 button quail eggs on the way my poor wilma bator is looking a bit empty around the edges with only the cuckoo, sarama , D's, SFH, and Norwegians .

Ok yay me! I found some dorkings! I forgot about Dick Horstman! I ordered some BBS orps back in december from him which are gorgeous by the way. Anyway I checked out his website and he has red dorkings. Just ordered a dozen eggs! The hatching continues.

Out of my turkeys (18 had pipped) 14 made it and are in the brooder doing well now. I have another 20 in the hatcher and several are pipped. 2 are out and in the transitional hatcher.

DMrippy's BR eggs are in the hatcher!

I just cleaned out the third hatcher in anticipation of the next batch! Isn't hatching fun??

Ok yay me! I found some dorkings! I forgot about Dick Horstman! I ordered some BBS orps back in december from him which are gorgeous by the way. Anyway I checked out his website and he has red dorkings. Just ordered a dozen eggs! The hatching continues.

How many made it to lockdown? Nobody bought them this week so I put 8 more in today. And the Lav Splits that nobody bought and the EE that nobody bought.

Do you see a pattern here?????

16 made it to the hatcher. I can't remember how many you sent but 16 is huge!! I have many eggs still coming. Mostly guineas! You just keep adding them to the bator! DH processed 5 big roosters yesterday. They were tearing my hens up! I kept 4 but there is another batch of teenagers that I know there is one rooster at least!

yay! you can't go wrong with his. i tried ordering some earlier this year but he was only selling chicks at the time. glad to know he's got eggs again. i'm taking a break after these eggs hatch, because we're planning vacation late july or early august i think... i want all the babies outside by then.

Was soooooooo amazingly close to picking them up. Grrrrrrrr...... Dumb Long Beach laws. I really wanted some more eggs, but alas I didn't get them. My lockdown for the eggs won in the raffle is Thursday and with any luck we'll have another 10. We have 2 in the yard, and 12 in the laundry room..... plus 10, yes...24. Now, not a big deal if you live somewhere else, but Long Beach? We're allowed ...................wait for it...........................................one.

I think I lost all the ducks and turkeys I dug out of the trash. Most were doing well, a few clears. I had plugged in a light for another brooder box for some smaller babies yesterday and then tonight I checked everyone before work (I had a guinea and 2 small ducks from the trash batch pipping) I checked the Hova which has always been spot on and the temp was ---110 so I'm guessing everyone id fried. No idea how long they were that high, I confess I did not check the temp when I got home around noon, and went to bed. I moved everything to the sportsman's lower shelf (I didn't want them with the rest of my eggs because they were so dirty. I did wash them but I still worried about contamination. Don't know what happened with the Hova, I'll check it out in tomorrow when I get home.
The guinea and ducks were in the Reptipro to hatch, the guinea came out fine, one duck is out,but was sticky/slimey I rinsed it and dried it. then went to work. I'm gonna slip out on my lunch break and run home to try to get to the other duck.

well, i had 2 coturnix quail due today (the roo's last). got a brown and a gold. 8)

i've got an assortment of ee/dorking cross, mille/partridge and black/self blue bantam cochins, 4 welsummer, all due tomorrow and a turkey due friday.

well, so far (as of an hour ago) i had 1 ee out, and 1 mille/partridge cochin out, 2 black/sb 2 ee and 1 more mille pipped... wow. these guys are early!

usually they're right on time or a bit late.

for my first ever turkey, and some wellies to go with the one little girl (i hope) i already have. oh and SELF BLUE! pray for blue. the parents are split but haven't got one yet.

i can stand it only got two peafowl in the bator now quail hatched and sold. sooooo ordered another 60 red sexlinks I'll start friday.
