Karen... I was on my phone... that roo looks pretty good! That pullet shafting might be a problem... Not sure how you could breed that out. Maybe if the roo does not have that it will help. Keep an eye out for a pullet. She looks a lot like a GLW for sure. I know that the DARKER the red the better the shafting gets. DARK is best. Your probably know all that
Pretty sure the GLW and BLRW are using different genes.... just can't remember what. Sometime the PHENOTYPE is the same.
the difference between a black BLRW and a GLW is the BLRW has the mahogany gene to darken the red. and blue of course to give the bbs lacing. the mahogany is a dominant gene, but the gold can hide for generations and come back up now and then.
