Incubators Anonymous

I did the right thing putting those eggs in lock down. I had some babies the next day. I had 100% hatch of Wheatens, Lav Split, and 1 more Foley SLW

Maybe 8 Blue and Black Coppers, Some ExL x's, Cuckoos, and some Olive Eggers. I need to move some chicks out to the shop., but I need to put some heat in there first.

I have I think 6 Foley Chicks that will be UNRELATED to my Roo

So far I have not seen a BLRW develop. One had a blood ring. We will see what the next set is doing in a few days.

I am finished hatching for now (Maybe I'll set some fall hatches) . I had a great hatch from Donnas batch, had 2 questionable Rio Grand Turkey eggs and a Malard duck egg left in the Reptipro that I figured were all duds but I left them. I went in Sunday to show a friend the baby brooder and she looked in the Reptipro, the Malard and a RG were running around all dry and fluffy. Glad I didn't turn it off like I had planned to. The Sportsman is unpluged, and all cleaned up, ready to go home. The Hova and Reptipro are empty but I havent unplugged them (Just

because).
I'd still like to get a couple more W/BW Am and I see Ray and Deb have some listed

. I may need some more BLRW too, I'm thinking I have 5 Cockrels and only one Pullet

so when do set more eggs? I really need to wait alittle bit. I have really run out of grow out room, DH is working on a yard, and I am thinking about how to arrange a net over one of the yards for the guineas that I want to keep in for breeding. The rest can free range for pest control.
Build, Build

and build some more.

I separated some brs last night and out of 23 chicks 15 of them are pullets! So, now I need to come up with a good excuse to hatch more as I now have around 50 pullets that I will grow out and sell this spring. Is just because a good reason?

I may have a hatching customer.....

She wants Marans (Cuckoo and Black Coppers) but she only wants pullets..... so I am going to see if she would like Sexlink Marans

I know they frown on that at the Marans thread, but I did some reading and the Cuckoos will not mess up the pullets in the cross. The roos will probably be dinner. My roo guy said he would take all the little roos. She may want to replace her flock but for sure 25-50 pullets.... maybe more she has 150 layers and she sell eating eggs. So they will never be for breeding. My cuckoos lay HUGE eggs and pretty often too. They are much better layers than the Coppers.

I am glad I kept those Cuckoos now

I loved the size of the cuckoo eggs--looked like jumbos every one!!

I think I got 1 blue hen and 5 roosters; will need to guard her like fort knox to get more cuckoo chicks for next year. I have a rooster from Mr Heinz to use on her. BIG BOYS--faster growing than my marans, too.

Nice! Do you sell hatching eggs of those too?

i really should take a more up-to-date pic... those are about half the chicks that hatched from some of Donna's eggs.
top pic are the cuckoo marans and bottom were the copper marans. and I estimate I had better than a 50% hatch rate on these guys.

Thanks again Donna!

I'm in love with Ameraucana's. I bought 3 sets since Aug 2nd when the incubator arrived and I can't stop. One set I was scammed, so the chicks went to a friend and I did get my money back. Ordering eggs online is so easy too!

Here are a few of the chicks I hatched 2 weeks ago. I have a set in the incubator now and will wait until early march to hatch again.
