Incubators Anonymous

Is there a tread on hatchers? I know there are a million of incubators and brooders but what about hatching?? Thanks

They are just incubators... that you can up the humidity in. Nothing different about them.... well you don't need a turner. That pic I posted the first pic is my hatcher. Just a BIG BOX with heat and water.

Well since i only have 1 incubator i was thinking of making a hatcher so a box with heat and container of water for humidity lol

Can you share some pix?

Funny and informative thread! I hatched a few chicks from a broody hen last year, which was awesome, and want to learn how to incubate them out now. I was sad when I ruined my mini frig last year while chipping ice out of it, but heck, I see you can make incubators out of them and am happy I ruined it now...

. ...just got to get one going.

So when they are hatching temp dropps below 97 degrees ???
no, it still needs to be 99.5 or so. the temps shown in her hatcher are because the lid was open...

tho some do say to drop the temp half a degree to compensate for the humidity, i don't and have never had a problem. but then i dry incubate so don't have a problem with wet hatches.
