I don't know the first thing about shipping hatching eggs, but I love the story of the woman who practiced packing, and dropped them off the roof! Now that is a committed sender!\\
Really sorry to hear about all the scrambled eggs...

well unfortunately, there are no dorking breeders that i've found "within driving distance" for me... these eggs came from florida, in very good shape, another is in maine that has eggs now and then, the rest are midwest that i've found.

my driving distance limit is about 2 hours round trip. that's about all i can handle sitting still in the car, because then either my legs are going to go away on me, or start twitching randomly, and it's debatable which is worse... (low back congenital defect) at least working from home i can choose to stand or sit at my discretion while answering calls for work. the only drawback is my "leash" is only about 3' long.

it's not so bad if someone else drives, i can recline the seat to stretch my back/legs, and if they go away or twitch, it's no biggie, just annoying.

I have the same problem up here with Delawares and Brahmas. If I want birds of decent quality rather than hatchery stock. I need to actually order shipped eggs. There is no one around here who have birds that are SQ or heritage. So I order from everyone on BYC and so far I have only had one person who sent me eggs and none hatched. Everyone else I get 50% or better hatching rate from shipped eggs so far

I am lucky I have a good variety of BYC'er close to me and can get everything I need here. If I want something else I would maybe do a 4 hour drive, but I would have to be getting several things to make it worth the trip. We are going to KY one day and I might see what I can get there and we are going to GA and I will see what I can get there, FL and Delaware are in my future too so I might can get some hatching eggs along the way

Then there is always the tourists like you people who come to Nashville, to see where the music is made

LilyD, what kinda Brahmas you got? I am getting me some next week I think

. Dark brahmas, they are hatchery but I am going to try to improve them and when I go to Delaware maybe we could do an egg swap????

Today is the start of my GOOD EGG hatch!!!!! Lav Ameraucanas, FBCM, Blue/Black Copper Marans, Production Reds then next week or so... More Marans eggs and Brahmas and productions reds. I was hoping for just one more hatch but the Marans are not laying like good girls soooo.... Instead of the 3 doz I was going to hatch it is going to be more like 4 or 5 in two hatches.

DEAL! If I go on a trip I will post and would be willing to pickup and trade eggs along the way.... might be a long trip but I have the time. I will be going that way when we go to Delaware right? Petty close anyway...

Same thing with Bristol TN.
